AP1/AP2 mix

has anyone mixed or heard of someone mixing the AP1s and AP2s? i was thinking of doing a 3,4,5,6 AP1 and 7,8,9,P AP2 set. good idea? bad idea?

Better check into the lofts on both before purchasing. I believe the AP1 lofts are stronger than the AP2's. Under your scenario you might end up with quite a yardage gap between your 6 and 7 iron.

I was thinking about this just yesterday, about going AP2 for P-7 and AP1 for 6-3i. Im not interested in buying a set of AP1's or 2's but I was intriqued in the possibillty. Kind of like a blended set with players clubs. If the lofts match it sounds like a great idea - go for it. Though I wonder if the AP1's are sold indivisually.

Not necessarily. How the ball launches depends on, among other things:

1) shafts 2) clubhead center of gravity 3) what ball you play 4) how you strike the ball (angle of attack, etc.) If you're thinking of doing this, take the two clubs on each side of your gap and hit them with your preferred ball. Make sure the gap is pretty normal (and the trajectory is consistent - you probably don't want your 7-iron launching lower than your 6-iron).

If you're not dead-set on Titleist, you could save some money and get Mizuno MX900s (new if you can still find them or used). They are basically what you are describing - cavity-back 3-6, forged 7-PW. Great irons - I love mine.

Not necessarily. How the ball launches depends on, among other things:

i assume a proper titleist fitter would be able to account and adjust for all that, right?

also how big a difference do the Project X shafts make?
