Hi! Tuesday I went to a store in here to get fitted. It's not a fiiting like in the US but you have to start with something. So I tried the 905R 9.5° with the UST Proforce V2 75g Stiff. And according to the machine, my swing speed is around 110mph and ball speed is like 165mph the angle was between 8° and 11°, at impact clubface centered, but the problem was the backspin it was like 3600 revs.

The fitter told me that the best should be between 1500 and 2500. Now, looking at the information that Titleist has of the fitting works ( http://www.fittingworks.com/Technolo...erFitting.aspx ) they said that less loft can reduce it, stiffer tip shaft, stiffer shaft or heavier shaft...

So I checked the shafts available and there is a UST Proforce V2 but 86 grams... now I'm wondering...

- Should I buy the driver but 8.5°?
- Should I buy it but 8.5° and the 75g shaft but X-Stiff?
- Should I buy it but 8.5° and the 86g shaft but Stiff?

What would you say?

Sorry I now that the answer should be pretty easy if I get well fitted, but here in Mexico we don't have that chance.

Thanks a lot!

Regards

What ball were you using? Sometimes the ball has an impact on spin rate. For example, when I used the Hogan Hawk, the spin rate average was 2485 and distance was 266 yards. I also had very little sidespin, an average of 187. When I used the Nike One Platinum, the average spin rate was 3049, distance was 253 yards and sidespin was 557.

Just something to think about.

I use the one's that they have in there, Pinnacle or something like that. The guy told me that the ball could be generating more spin, that a harder ball will produce less spin.

I suggest you go back and use the ball you normally play. At least you will give yourself the chance to simulate optimal playing conditions.

I'm currently using the HX Tour, but I still have the FT-5 and if it rolls like 5 yards it's a lot. I'm not asking for a roll of 50 yards or something like that, but I want a decent roll. Also now with my driver I'm slicing evreything that this doesn't happen with the 905R.

Thanks for your help mate! Regards.

So any one have any lower spinning shaft suggestions? I have a Fuji Tour Platform 27.3 on a HiBore XL and it is a high launch spin monster with my swing. I have no idea what my LM numbers are. I don't need a LM to tell me that the ball is going way too high and balloning. I hit a Mizuno MP600 with a Fuji E 360 and was hitting it much lower and mucho straighter. So right now, based on my own testing, that is a shaft I'm considering. Just would like to know of any other low spin shafts that might be worth a look.

Thanks

I know the Graffaloy ProLaunch Red is a stiff tip, low launching, low spinning shaft.

No way should you consider getting the 8.5*.
Look at any other shaft options and also consider changing your ball
but don't go down in driver loft.

Thnaks I stayed with the 9.5º and the UST 75g Stiff, but I changed my swing I wasn't coming on my downswing weel to the ball now I try to sweep the ball. Also I use the HX Tour or proV1x ball and that changes a lot the story.

Hmm, is 8-11 deg launch angle too low for drive? My under standing was that you wanted it somewhere between 12 and 14.

I just swapped out my UST V2 High Launch out of my TM 425 TP on Fri. I went to the monitor on Fri to find a better shaft for my driver. The UST V2 HL was a good shaft, it just had too much launch angle for my liking - my numbers were similar to yours, I averaged 110mph, 170 ball speed and 13.5-14 deg launch angle and right around 2400 rpm. These were all really good numbers and the fitter was a bit hesitent to swap it out but I told him I wanted to lower the launch a bit and get to a more stiff shaft because the UST stiff wasn't stiff enough. Anyways, I went to a Matrix Ozik Xcon 6, tipped a little to have a frequencey between the stiff and the strong flex. I played on Sat and the shaft is very solid, way more stable and reliable then the V2 HL. Might not be worth the money for some but even if it didn't yield more yards (which it did) but it feels so more predictable...the extra confidence is worth more then the extra yardage it gives.

I find that the 905R launches the ball very high with my 9.5 with a stiff prolaunch blue, but I have also tried a 8.5 with the same shaft and found that it does not fly as high and looks like it is going longer, but ends up about 5-10 metres shorter.
I think the higher launch angle and less roll looks like it is loosing distance but it actually doesn't, and you also gain accuracy, in the air and when it hits the fairway!

I think that today with the correction I made with my swing the launch angle should be a bit bigger and the backspin lower. I really like that UST shaft, with the Fujikura E-360 the trajectory was lower, with the UST is a medium trajectory and I like that.

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
