I am now having to buy new balls, as i have lost all of mine. I usually try to play Pro V1x's but sont really think they suit my game, i am a longish hitter, but my weakness is around the greens, i think i have narrowed it down to,

More Pro V1x's
Hogan Tour Deep
Srixon Z-UR
Nike One's of some sort.

What would you recomend?

INT Grom

MP600 - UST V2 STIFF SHAFT

PT906F2 UST V2 STIFF SHAFT RESCUE DUAL MP60 Irons CG12 Wedges Redwood Anser Black SatinITS ALL GOOD!! =]

As long as you don't mind the distance loss that comes with the nike one platinums, and it is pronounced, then they are an incredible ball around the greens. The distance loss was just too great for me to handle.
In the blue and tan grom Bag:

Driver r7 460 10.5*
Fairway Woods '07 Burner 15* and 18*
Irons 4-PW r7 XDWedges 47*, 52*, 58* CG14,Putter TiffanyBall One Tour D

I have heard that the Tour Deep's are very similar if not exactly the same as the HX Tour's. I am going to purchase some Hogan Tour Deep's and see if they suit my style of play. At $25 you can't go wrong.
In my bag:
Driver: Tour Burner 10.5 re*ax

Hybrids:Baffler DWS 3,4 Wedges:588 RTG DSG 56ΒΊ, 60ΒΊPutter:White Hot XG #9 34"Grips: Lamkin Crossline CordsBall: Pro V1x

I going to give some ambiguous advice about balls because to me what ball you play is dictated by what you want the ball to do for you that your current ball isn't doing.

No matter what the ball does, how it is off the tee or how much spin it has around the greens, if you play with it long enough your game will adjust to what the ball does. It has to or else your scores will be aweful. The ball can not adjust to your game, the ball is one of the few constants in the game.

So with that said, if your touch around the green is lacking, the ball isn't going to make any difference unless you want the new ball to do something your current ball isn't doing.

Have you tried using different clubs to make the ball do what you want around the greens? Going from one highend ball to another isn't going to make a huge difference, not like going from a low spin ball to a highend ball.

that's such great advice. well put. and for the new nike one platinum series...you don't lose as much distance as before...the balls are incredible.. the nike one blacks keep you around the same distance but with less spin and feel..but they're still incredi ball. (ok corny).

Check out the Bridgestones e5, or e6, I love the way the e5 work, nice distance and feel, and they bite good off my wedges, and the price is half of the Pro V's (which I used to play)

The Pro V and Nike are overrated. Out of the balls you listed I recommend going with the Srixon.

In my bag:

Driver: Burner TP 8.5*
Fairway metals/woods: Burner TP 13* Tour Spoon, and Burner TP 17.5*
Irons: RAC MB TP Wedges: RAC TPPutter: Spider Ball: (varies ) (Most of the time): TP Red or HX Tour/56---------------------------------------------------

    • Going to go against the grain a bit here and say that pain isn't as severe as we think it is sometimes.  A lot of times if something has been there for a long time it is really neurological.  Unless a sports med tells you it's likely to tear I would keep going with physio until a doctor tells you not to.  Good luck
    • I just wanted to post an update here.. so the person telling me that information was incorrect. They mixed up two of the courses that we play during our competition rounds and the one we played last weekend was NOT a non-smoking course.  I was also wrong in thinking that he was a member of said club, but he wasn't.. he's a member of a completely different club in our tournament pool.   The course that we will play next weekend is the one with the strict smoking ban and they have stated this clearly in their local rules.  The main reason for this is that there is a very high risk of forest fires in the area where this course is located at, so it's not to promote "health and wellbeing", but purely based on safety.
