Torrey Pines, anyone ever played it? Should the US Open be played there?

Eventually, I'll get the hint and stop advertising, which is against the rules.

I grew up in Pacific Beach and went to La Jolla High School, so I am very familiar with Torrey Pines.

Unfortunately I am only familiar with it because I grew up near it; I was never into golf before I moved away from home, and even if I had been I'd never be able to afford the greens fees.

I also turned down free tickets to the Buick Invitational a couple of years when I was a teenager. I really regret this now, since I could have watched Tiger play and win, but at the time I had absolutely no interest in golf and felt I had a lot better things to do than walk around a golf course with a crowd of people for a couple of days, watching players I knew nothing and cared nothing about.

Sorry this isn't much help, but I think that it's a legitimate golf course, and can certainly be made difficult enough to be a US Open course.

Ive played there numerous times. Have grown up in the area and can play it for a great price. I cant wait for the US OPen to be played there, I think its a perfect match. When I play it from the blues, its long, at 7200, and I don't dream of breaking 80 when I play there, ive done it once and ive played it probably 30 times. its a perfect candidate...longest in US open History at 7604 yards from the black tees, quick greens(13 i think) tall rough, beautiful layout. Its gonna be awesome, I cant wait to watch it.
