Top of the swing

At the top of the swing, what is considered neutral, closed and opened, as far as the clubface is concerned.

And does this sound right. I feel like I have a shut face at the top of the swing, and I try to open on the downswing, creating a higher than usual ballflight. Does this sound right. If it does, what are some possible fixes?

"Square" is considered parallel with your left forearm, closed is the face is facing the sky, and open is if the toe is pointing down.

I wouldn't recommend you "try to open" your face in the backswing, if it's closed at the top, your grip is probably too strong, too open your grip is too weak.

Hello all, I am new to this forum. Playing golf for a while.
At the top of the backswing, my left wrist is cupped, and unfortunately it remains that way all thru my swing, which makes the clubhead travels slightly outside-in and open faced. I wonder how to achieve flat left wrist at the top of the swing so the club face is square? Is it a very deliberate effort, or what moves to make it more "natural"? Thanks and sorry for "resurrect" this thread.
