Used Iron Buying Advice

I have reached a point where I feel my iron play is decent enough to want to use something other than my big box store club set. I figured a used set would be good, but need advice on a game improvement iron set I should be looking for on Ebay or such. The local Play It Again is like buying new, and the local used club market here is very slim. Is there something in the 225-ish price range I should be looking for?

I saw those. In fact, local Sports Authority had those on special last week for 299 so out of curiosity I hit them and liked them very much. Those are part of the reason I am iron shopping, felt so much better than my currnt set. Unfortunately, I am assuming those will be sold before I have the money to play with (between all the money I just spent on wedding gifts for friends and baby gifts for my little sister, I could of had 3 sets of those clubs now) so I figured I would at least start shopping.

Whatever you choose, make sure that the swingweights and shaft flexes are true. You don't want to purchase irons that are not what they claim and have to re-shaft, etc.

I can throw in a TM rescue club too!LOL!If youre willing to pay for more shipping,I'll even throw in a TM stand bag and MAYBE a driver...Can't beat that deal..

Well if you still have them 2 weeks from Friday, I think we can deal....lol. I am good on the bag for sure, but a TM rescue sounds good! I will keep watching your thread to see what happens with em for sure.

I am Mizuno guy and love the feel of forged irons, for a 36 handicap golfer, the used set of Comp EZ or oversized forged irons that you can pick up for $225 and under. I have bought most of golf equipment on E-bay. buy from a seller with 100% marks or very close, and will lots of transactions and you should be relatively safe.

Look for very forgiving irons. My recs for that would be Adams or Cobra. Both are in your price range if you look around online.

      To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
