I have an R7 425 driver. I hit the ball about 300yds off the tee, though its 200 out and 100 to the right. So call this a slice would be an understatement. Now I have the moveable weights in the driver and its currently set at high neutral. I was thinking of switching it to a draw setting and see how it responded.

Any thoughts on this?

Really????

Simply make the change and see if it helps. It doesn't have to be this hard.

Use the tool, switch the weights and if it doesn't help - go back. That's why they let you move them on your own, it isn't a tattoo, it will go back the way it was if you want.

It won't suddenly turn you into a super accurate 320 yard bomber but it might help "some". Figure out the swing but until then - use the technology you bought and try moving the weights.

if your slicing your driver that bad, are you slicing the rest of your clubs?

make the change and see what happens but the real progress will be when you coordinate your swing to hit straight

If you're slicing it that badly, setting the weights to draw will probably make you hook it just as far to the left. I think you have a swing path issue, its not so much the club.

Just received my R7 quad TP today from ebay and can't wait to start moving those weights around.

I would change them up I'm certain it should help some.

Actually you're only hitting the ball just over 223 yards if you hit it 200 our and 100 to the right

What you need to do is learn how to swing your club. You could move your weight setting to draw, but you're still going to be swinging the club wrong.

What you should do is take the club really inside, almost hitting your right leg. Keep rotating in that direction until you're at the top. Now, keep your right elbow against your body the whole time, and try to hit the ball. Although this is not the correct swing, you will feel what it is like to hit the ball from the inside. Your slice will be gone, and you will be hitting that 223 yard+ drive straight.

Not true. It will lessen your slice, maybe turn it into a fade. You WON'T be hitting a draw.

Yeah i have the same exact driver. Ive got mine set to the Draw position but if im not paying attention i will still slice the crap out of it. Im convinced the weights are BS. but who knows really.

Your not going to cure a bad swing with weighing the driver to a draw,it won't make any difference,if you want to cure your slice or turn it into a power fade try this, when taking the club back make sure your left arm does not pass your heart, this forces you to turn your shoulders and stops you lifting your arms, take the club back in a three quarter swing and presto your slice is now gone, try it in your back yard for an hour and then go to the range.A three quarter swing to most people is actually a full swing.

I had r7 460 before and now r7 SuperQuad. What I've done with the MWT is...simply nothing. The weights, honestly? Not much of a help. "It's not the arrow, it's the indian." May sound cliche, but true.

Hope that helps.

So riddle me this. I went and hit a small bucket at lunch. I did it this way.

I hit five balls as the club was full swing, all went straight out and then tailed off to the right like normal. Then I did the suggest 3/4 swing and didn't let my left arm pass my heart sure enough it went dead straight and the movement fealt very odd. So clearly I've been hitting it wrong.

I never put steam on it, but slowly took the club further back until I was near a full swing but slow and controlled. Without the effort I would normally use, I was hitting the ball straighter and further than I normally hit it. So color me confused. Full swing path, almost no effort, 250yd drive within 10yd of being straight. How is this possible?

Now if only I can do this on the course.

Are you sure you need a stiff shaft? Have you been fitted for a shaft. You are going to be much better off trying to fix your slice after you have a shaft that fits you.

It will feel weird for a bit, once you ingrain it you will be flushing irons and woods,When i hear of a slice its usually related to no shoulder turn but just arm which results in coming over the top and getting weak slice drives,Get used to that and then make sure your right leg is always braced in the backswing, make sure that when your taking the club back that your upper body does'nt go back also, people who overswing tend to do this and end up with mis hits e.t.c

I always thought the weights were SOMEWHAT phoney...I mean they help a little fade into a straight shot but not a big slice into a straight shot...that's just swing issues.

If you slice (and start ball left of target), changing the configuration to DRAW will either reduce the amount you slice or cause you to hit pulls. The weights only fix the face...you fix the path! Work on an inside move at the ball...there is a lot of instruction out there for this.

About the weights: they are actually pretty useful I think. A fade setting has eliminated any fear of the dreaded pull hook.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
