What price range are you looking for? I have the Oakley Canteens, they are not dark at all and the ball is easy to see.

The Oakley brand has such nice sunglasses, check out their website. I recommend the "Gas Cans" or the "Canteens"

I am looking to spend no more than 175.00. Do they feel light? I will check those out.

I prefer the Canteens over the Gascans, they are really light. Half of the time when i put them on my hat I don't even realize they are there. They lenses are very light and have a nice blue colour to them. I got mine for $120 CAD

I have Oakley Radar 'Pitch' and have 2 sets of lenses. The black iridium for when it is really bright and the G30 vented (a rose color) for more medium light. The G30 lenses really bring out blue and greens and are great for golf, bu they let in a fair amount of light (25%), so I use them more in fall and spring. The black Iridium only let in 10% of light, so I use them now. I got an excellent deal on them (under $200 for the frames and 2 sets of lenses from a local pro) as they are on The Golf Warehouse for $175 with only one set of lenses. Oakley charges around $90 the other lenses, so I got about a third off on them.

As for less expensive glasses, look at Bolle; they are very solid and not as much money as Oakley.

I wear contacts...so getting wraps really do help to keep the wind out. I happen to like the Callaway brand personally. Just make sure you don't get the polarized lenses....as they will create some distortions. Oakleys....ok for me...just that they aren't golf specific.

As for the interchangable lenses...one prob....they get loose after about a year and the glasses aren't really usable after they get loose.

Spend some decent money on glasses...you have only one pair of eyes.

I haven't had any problem with the changing of lenses making them loose. Maybe on some brands, but the Oakley stay tight. Not like I'm popping them in and out on a regular basis either.

I wear Oakley polarized Gascans. They are great for when it's really sunny. I've never noticed a problem seeing the ball or reading the greens with them on, but I've been wearing them for 3 years so I'm used to looking through them just about any time I'm outside.

I wear Smith Toaster Slider's, they're the most comfortable glasses I've ever owned. I've got 2 pair, one I've had for 7 years, the other for 4 years.

For golf, I put a set of their Ignitor lenses in, and they do help quite a bit.

I think it depends on the climate. Maybe not up in the Pacific Northwest...but in year round warmer climates they tend to get loose with the heat. However...during the non-summer months...they would be snug.

I had Oakleys also...playing twilight golf (skipping out of the office early) where I would switch out lenses as it was very bright when I started and darker later in the day..and they got loose.

I wore my Serengeti polarized glass lensed sunglasses accidently one round. My thoughts were that the gradiated lenses altered my depth perception on the greens. Not much on the full shots...but on the greens I couldn't get the same reads on a course that I am very familar with....even though I know how the greens broke and where the green spines are. Maybe it took away the surface contrast.

Also...if you look at golf specific glasses...don't think many are polarized. Must be a reason. Any case...go with what works.

I have a pair of Sundog Focus shades. They dont so much make everything darker as much as it seems they just polarize everything while taking away some of the sunglare. Light patches of green seem like they turn yellow with those things. Ive worn them for an entire round and not even noticed they were on my face. I even putt with them on sometimes. Pretty cheap as well, I only paid $50 for mine.

The Oakley lenses are made of the polarized material. Most other sunglasses are just dipped in it.

I wouldnt say that "most" are just dipped in it. Many of the top sunglass makers use polaraized material.

Polarized lenses aren't dip...they have a physical filter to transverse waves

Look in

+1 on the Oakleys. Mine are similar to these: http://oakley.com/pd/4681 but certainly didn't cost what the website says. The key is the polarized lenes which block nearly 100% of the sun's UV light making it possible to keep your eyes wide open even on the nastiest of sun days. dave

The ultimate "old man" setup:

    • Day 29 (9 Dec 25) - PW dink and rolls as well as low flighted chips.  Dink and rolls - set up with club head toe down/heel up to promote low flight, plenty of roll out.  Low flighted pitches - club flat on the ground to get ball up a Rick more and check more.   No more than 10yds total distance - focus on getting the ball to finish near (within 10’ dia circle) the target “pin”…
