I am fairly new to the game, started playing in April 2007 so be easy on me with my question. Why are so many people fanatical about Scotty Cameron putters? Is it the quality, customization options, collectors item?

Well this thread is probably been posted elsewhere. You should do a search.

The easiest way to answer that question is to go to a golf shop and putt with one. Then you will know what all the 'hub-bub' is about. They are some of the finest crafted, well balanced, nicest looking, value retaining putters on the market. I wondered the same thing you did until I putted with one.

Don't get me wrong, they are BEAUTIFUL putters, but I just don't think they are worth the money they go for.

I got my Odyssey DFX 3300 for $60, 1/4 of what Scotty's go for and LOVE IT.

Who cares what you pay for a putter as long as you like it and putt well with it. I had a lot of putters before I bought a Studio Stainless (including other Camerons) and I've had a lot since (including other Camerons) and I always end up with my Scotty Cameron Studio Stainless Newport 2.5 in my bag. Try one, you'll like it.

I'd have a hard time paying $300 for any single club (picked mine up used for $150), but if I were going to it would be a putter before a driver.
