I just bought a Titleist Bulls-Eye putter on Ebay for $37. 8 years ago, when I was pretty serious about golf, I had a set of Titleist DCI 981 irons and a Titleist Bulls-Eye putter. The irons I wasnt all that crazy about, but I loved the feel of the putter.
Then I got frustrated with golf, got stupid and sold my clubs (putter included).
Well, Im back in the game now and wanted to get another Bulls-Eye. Sadly, they dont make them anymore.
I thought about getting a Scotty Cameron, but $300 is a bit out of my budget right now.
I started looking on Ebay and figured that if I could get one for under $50, thats not too bad.
Sorry, pointless thread, I know; but I had to tell someone!

Sorry, I meant if I could get a Bulls-Eye for under $50 that would be pretty good. I know all too well you wont touch a Cameron, even on Ebay for under $200.

Yeah, kind of. I figured Id buy a putter this year, buy a 56 degree Vokey wedge next year, a fairwood wood next year (afterall, Im playing a wood that is actually made out of wood) and a set of irons the year after that.

As much as Id love to just go out and blow $1,500 on a whole new set of clubs, that aint gonna happen.

Niiiiiiiice. I used an extremely old putter that my greatgrandfather gave to my grandfather, who gave it to my father, who gave it to me. I sucked with it, but as you can see by my handicap, I suck with about every club I have.

ps. sorry for the double post

I've seen MANY Camerons go for less than 200 on ebay. I just lost on a Circa 62 #5 - it went for 126.00

I personally wouldnt pay anything more than 1/2 of what it costs new if Im buying off of Ebay (shipping included).

Some people get pretty crazy with what they will pay for something. Its like they get so obsessed with winning the auction that they forget what the item is really worth. You can get a new SC putter for $300, so if you are going to pay any more than $150 for one, you might just as well go to your local Titleist dealer and buy new. BTW, my putter arrived today. Its all there and is exactly as the seller described. I practiced with it a little today and all Ive got to say is, "wow". It beats the heck out of my cheapie Wilson Augusta!

I agree on the 1/2 off deal - unless that item is new. Then I will obviously pay more but not ever more than what it would cost to buy local. Even then it would have to be cheaper than local by a good margin (figure in shipping as well).

I live and golf with these people if paying 15 bucks more local than ebay keeps them in a job and food on their kid's plate - I will pay the 15 bucks.

Prob why I haven't been too successfull on the ebay front......

ETA - been eying up a set of Ping i10 yellow dots. I know the price will balloon on me in the last 2 hours though. Also been trolling for Titleist irons - DCIs all over the place, gonna have to do some research on them before I really know what's what.

I was just watching Golf Central and Corey Pavin is using a Bulls-Eye putter, he is tied for the lead after the first 18 holes of the Buick Open. He says, "It's one of those new designs, haha." he got it in '84 and brought it back out recently.

I was gonna mention that as well.

Tuned in to TGC last night after getting home from work and saw that Pavin had really showed out......great round. I tried one of those putters years ago......they seem so tiny by today's models....take they TM Rossa Spider putter and compare it to a Bullseye....you'll be laughing like heck. Glad to hear that you've been reuinited with a good flatstick. Gotta have confidence in those or all is doomed!!!!!!

ebay is great for older models in great condition...

if I want the latest model made I'll venture out to one of my shops but EBAYers have a lot of gems just lying around their house. IMO the best deals are items that are spelled incorrectly, it tends to be dealers who received something as a gift or have no idea what exactly they have.

Thats part of the game you play on Ebay. Thats why a lot of the time if the "buy it now" price is reasonable, I will go for that because its a lot less of a hassle than waiting around for the auction to end. Ive lost lots of items on Ebay at the last second and it really irritates me.

Glad to hear that you've been reuinited with a good flatstick. Gotta have confidence in those or all is doomed!!!!!!

Amen to that. I was practicing with my new putter the other day and any putt inside of 10 feet was pretty much automatic.

It was almost like that scene in, "Caddly Shack" where Chevy Chase is putting blindfolded and every putt he hits drops. Well, not quite but you get the idea!

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
