Today, I decided I should take lessons to improve my swing as now I am leaving the beginner stage and moving more towards intermediate and wanted to progress more.

Anyways the instructor said I needed to increase my club length, I always knew I did since I was bending over too much (I am pretty tall guys. He told me 1.5 inch per club longer

My question is: How will lengthening my irons affect my swing? Besides the obvious of not bending down so much. Will it slow it down/speed it up? Cause it to fly straighter/further or not as straight/shorter?

Thanks for helping

well your clubhead speed will increase, as well as your distance. as long as you are going to lengthen your clubs, you should check your lie angle too! nothing but GOOD things happen when you custom fit your clubs

Alright when I go in tomorrow since they're closing soon - I'll get them to check them to check the lie angles :) Thanks for the help

This is a good general chart for finding a base length/lie angle that you should consult. as well as trying to demo clubs with different legths/lie angles and using some lie angle tape on the sole of the club. be sure to take the wrist measurement with your shoes on. measure from the biggest crease in your wrist!

I just ordered my new irons and I will got them 1 1/2 longer. I needed a +2 upright lie but with the lenght that they will put the impact was at center. My head more quiet and I feel it easy to swing, so I don't think you will have problem with that.
