I'm not sure what new technology is going to bring for the 2009 year but let's make some guesses :

- a five piece golf ball. i don't know who is going to do it but i hope it's Titleist and i hope it rocks!

- bigger and stronger drivers and fairway woods

- more improved versions of cavity back irons

I think many club manufacturers are going to follow suit with the Player's Cavity Irons, such as the AP2's.

There are limits as to what you can do with driver and FW heads. I can't imagine them changing much except for a deeper face.

I do believe you will see more people customizing their shafts. Instead of spending $300-$500 on a new driver, people will spend that money on a shaft that guarantees them to perform ideally to their swing. This will happen for iron shafts, too.

When I think about golfing equipment and what people say, I think about cars. People talk about rims, size of the wheel, what type of car but you rarely hear conversations about the engine. In golf, that's changing. People are talking shafts and I think you'll see a boon in customized shafts.
