So I've been demoing a lot of drivers lately and with the stock shafts have been leaning towards the G10. It has, again with the stock stiff shaft, been the best performer and it's also cheaper than the other offerings out there that I like.

In the next few weeks I am going to go hit on a trackman to find the best combination for me, but would like to hear what specific shafts people would recommend I try.

My typical ball flight is high and a lot of spin. I have a quick tempo and my 5 iron distance is between 180-190. The shafts in my irons are DG S300. My typical mishit with the driver is a slice although I occasionally do pull them. I am probably going to trim the shaft shaft down a bit and although we all love it to bomb it control is a greater priority than distance.

Any thoughts?

Try the PL Red. There's no upcharge but it should drop your spin and launch down a bit. I tried the 10.5 g10 w/ stiff pl red and it was a pretty good ball flight and felt great. 9 or 9.5 would have been better for me but if you hit it high with a lot of spin the pl red should help.

I'm assuming that if you hit your 5i that far, your driver swing is around 115-120mph. Using that you should get an x-flex probably a torque around 3 and a mid launch. I would try that prolaunch v2. good shaft for your swing. this shaft will also help with the spin as well, bring it down to a resonable range. hope this helps

Really? I don't swing much over 100mph and I usually carry my 5i about 190yrds, that is my 200yrd club because I know I am going to get some roll out of it. Pros swing at like 120 and probably can carry 200yrd with their 6i. I would supect that the OP swings right around 100mph.

    • Have posted in a while or practiced for that matter. Dealing with a few medical issues. But I was able to practice and film today. I’ve played 5 times this year. Misses have been pulls or heavy shots. I feel this has a lot to do with my lower back issues. When I feel good, I get good rotation and I hit the ball well. Today I felt good. Hips and lower back felt nice and flexible. I worked mainly on the hands feeling from the top. The club head should feel like it’s going down and away from the ball and target at the start of the downswing. The right knee should stay a little flexed at the top. These are the only swing thoughts other than high hands (arms going up) I’ve been focused on. I did PW, 6 iron and Driver today. Here is PW. The hands look better as does the knee in the rehearsal. The knee gets more straight in the actual swing.   My left arm is not straight at impact, which it has never really been. But that’s not the focus of this practice.   6 iron looks better than last time. Driver also looks better than last time. Playing tomorrow. Hopefully my body will cooperate.

    • The way to practice this is not at full speed, even if you do manage to "change" something. But no, not quite like that. That's a late lift, but you still have the early roll, and you stand up too much in that swing (likely in trying to "lift" — the "lift" is relative to your torso, not the ground).
