Over the past few days I have been wondering what the heck is wrong.

It seems I am getting good contact (moreso with my irons) and the ball is getting good height but not just carrying. I normally hit my wedge 120 and my 7iron 150, and i gauge distance based of thses clubs.....but lately, i can barely hit my wedge 100 and my 7 iron 120-130. I tried to focus and see what the hell I was doing wrong, cause it still felt right.

Anyway, on Sunday and MOnday I had a long match of wiffleball, especially pitching. My shoulder is very sore to the touch but not so much when rotated.

OK to the question: Now I know the shoulder is a big part of the power, but could a mildly strained or fatigued shoulder cause this lack of distance?

Thanks!

I was perplexed on what I was doing wrong.....maybe this is the answer?

I suffer from a left shoulder and left neck strain that comes up often. It feels like a minor case of whip lash. Last week, after shooting 41 on the front nine pain free, my neck and back stated acting up again. I didn't bring any Tylenol with me and ended up finishing with a round of 110! I played through the pain and had to swing much less aggressively as a result. My distance was probably off by 40 to 50 % on my long irons, hybrids, and woods.

I most likely aggravated my neck and shoulder last year when I practiced too much at the range hitting down on the concrete covered mattes. I have since, vowed to never hit on mattes unless off the tee.

Mats can do it for sure.

I recently pulled my innercorpuls (?), the muscle in between the ribs. Dr. told me nothing will fix it, cna take up to 2 years to heal completely!
I asked a friend who is a physical therapist to be and he gave me a bunch of stretches.Within a week it was 99% better!
So now, I stretch really well before even the range. Not just a quick back ditty or two right before tee-off.

Absolutely. I'm assuming you throw and play from the same side.

Your "handed" shoulder applies much of the force. If you are wincing over it, you probably won't get through the ball as well.

But the thing is it's not painful to swing a club. It's painful to the touch and if I move it all the way back. I just didn't know if because of the strain, it wasn't possible for me to provide as much power as I could previously....

I have had tendinitis repaired in both elbows.

The season before each surgery, I couldn't hit the ball with any length. My elbows didn't hurt much during a round. Apparently I was unconsciously protecting them. Give your shoulder a rest and see.
