While I can occasionally drive it 270+ yards with a slight draw (due to significant swing changes via some GolfTec lessons several years ago), my tendency is to slice my driver.

I have an old, crummy driver with a really small face. I want a driver more forgiving of off-center shots (bigger sweet spot?) and that might help reduce my slice (offset/anti-slice?). I also want to spend about $60 or less.

I'm looking for specific model recommendations so that I can go buy something used so I can meet my budget. I have no problems buying something several years old, so please do not feel compelled to suggest the "latest and greatest"...unless it's cheaply available. Problem is, I don't even know where to start. I wouldn't mind pointers to "this is where you can read to learn more and find it yourself" references, but I'd prefer a recommended list of driver models. If you're so inclined, feel free to mention why you recommend each one.

Recommendations? More info needed?

Offset drivers are a bandaid. But they do work. If you want a larger more forgiving head under $60 you'll probably have to go the Walmart route. If you could spring for $100 I'd strongly consider a used Ping G2 in that price range. You can check the specs on Ping's website under the vintage club specs, and grab one off of Callaway Preowned. If you want to kill the slice without killing your swing, try a higher loft version, 12 degrees or more. More backspin means less sidespin. Just sit in the fairway while your 8.5 degree buds are punching out of the rough.

Stacey has given you some good advice there.

And definitely check out Callaway Preowned. (oh, and "draw driver" is OEM code for offset.) EDIT: From Callaway Preowned: For those prices, you are going to have to settle for "Average" condition drivers. But from what I have heard, "average" from C.P.O. is pretty darn good. Also, they offer a 90 day buy back guarantee (good toward purchase of another item.)

I use a R5 from Taylormade which serves me well. I think my friend might be selling it and might be around your price range.

In my opinion, you should look for a used Taylor Made r7 of some sort. One of the older models. I know that you can find them relatively cheap, and I know that you can help that slice with one. Tons of 'em on ebay.

I don't agree that offset is a "slice" band-aid on a driver.
It presets the hands ahead of the ball - right where you want them at impact.
I don't hook my offset 4-iron any more than my non-offset 5-wood but I hit it higher.

IMHO, look for a 2-4 degree closed face.

    • My flop shots are 6-7° down (AoA). Does that answer it? 😄  The longer answer is… You have to be able to do both shots.
    • I hope you don't mind me raising this one from the dead. I got shortgamechef's video access thing for a few months in 2024. I watched his yip fix videos (the general gist is similar to the first video above, but with a lot more detail) and it made a lot of sense. I was working on it in my backyard off a mat for a while and my yippy thing was mostly gone. Aside from anything else, the flop shot using that technique is so easy and controllable. But I got onto a golf course for the first time of the year and found myself by the green on a downslope with the ball sitting down a little in the rough and I was, not to put too fine a point on it, f***ed. Shallow is all well and good from a good flat lie and I understand it, but you can't make that your be all and end all. I still don't know if it's a good idea to use steep all the time or just when you need to. I have a hard enough time with one technique, let alone too.  Just got a pitching skillest lesson with Erik and unless I misunderstood things some, he wants me a bit steeper. @iacas - where do you fall on the steep vs shallow argument and how do you vary it according to need?
