And if you didn't click on the link, by "value" I mean the poor people's courses that don't have the crazy near-perfect fairways/greens like Prairie Dunes and Firekeeper.

Oak Country Golf Club is ok, for sure a value course.  The front 9 plays to a regular 36 but the back 9 is all par 3's with 3 par 4's that are all driveable.  When I first got back into playing I would go there quite a bit, could go early on a morning, play 9 holes for $12 or $15, and no one on the course.  I would play several balls on each hole so got in a lot of practice, especiallly if I played the back 9.

I live in the KC area, there are a lot of courses, I didn't see mentioned, Iron Horse, Deer Creek or Falcon Ridge, these are some of my favorites.  Probably the two best hidden gems, a 9 hole course in Falcon Valley and in Basehor there is Falcon Lakes.  I play most of my golf at Tomahawk, as I can walk across the street to play it!

I play a lot in Witchita, my brother lives there, I think that is a good a bargain for golf as there is in the state, all the city courses are $22 to walk, except Auburn Hills and it's not much more.  Play a lot a Sand Creek Station in Newton also, by far one of the best in the state, and one of the only ones with bent grass fairways and not zoysia.

Yeah, wanna make 14 dollars the hard way?

I'm probably just gonna get a membership with Great Life Golf, since there are three courses within my area that I can play with member privileges (Western Hills, Prairie View, Berkshire). I can't see myself being able to afford much else. But I did like what I saw out of the pictures from Falcon Lakes.

    • Day 1 (19 Jan 26) - after a week lay-off due to travels, felt great to get in some drills in the backyard today.  Started with lead arm only short pitches focused on squared face and light divot post ball.  Haven’t done this in a while and it showed, with some skulls and slices.  Settled into easy flighted balls - wrapped up with standard two handed swings.  Good restart to the daily drills.
    • That depends what you do within those two.  Are they your only options?   Check out Fit for Golf if you get a moment.  It's linked on the sidebar;  I did it for two years, stopped for a really bad reason, and I plan to get back to it soon.   Mike Carroll also has a great free podcast about a lot of topics in golf fitness.
    • Day 19, 1/19.  Finished work in time to spend 25 minutes hitting balls (hit 15) indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Usual focus.
    • Day 30 - 2026-01-19 Got 10 minutes in on the mat / net working on exagerrating movements I'm working on. And grip. Also worked with my friendly AI to summarize key negative tendencies I have so that I can build a personal checklist to follow. Will do more mirror work tonight.
