I am looking to get fitted for my current driver. I have a feeling the shaft is just too stiff and I push everything. Does anyone have a preference or recommend one or the other? If you have been fitted by GolfGalaxy or GolfSmith, how was your experience, do you feel it helped your game and how much did it cost?

Hello MunkeyGolfer. the first thing to know is where are you located, in my experience Golfsmith are VERY good guys in experience and recommendations. But if your case your local Golfsmith store is small and the GolfGalaxy store is a huge one, they may have more experienced people there. But if I had to choose one of the two, my pick always will be Golfsmith.

I will be doing this in Denver. I would assume that they would be bigger sized stores there.

All very good information. I am getting the feeling that most would get fitted by a smaller/local club fitter. By going that route, do you think I would be charged more than what one of the larger ones charge?

I bought a whole new set about 15 months ago and tried both stores and was more impressed with Golfsmith. Much better and more personal service and really took the time to go through all the options I wanted to test and also suggested some good alternatives. I'm a big fan and that one good experience means that whenever I need to pick something up I usually head there and the service has remained high. Oh btw my wife got fitted for a set there a couple of months ago and she was also delighted with the whole experience.

Last time I went to GolfSmith and asked to get fitted for a 3-wood and driver. They told me you don't need to and to just buy one off the racks.
