I see now that you were on the ProLaunch Blue which is in fact a low kick (high launch) shaft. All things equal, those hit quite high. I've seen many fade driver shots turn into bananna balls where they hang in the air soooo long. I don't have that problem. I'm launching my 12* G5 at what I guess would be about 11 or 12*, which is really too low for my 95 MPH swing. But I hit more fairways because the ball gets down before it gets outside the fairway lines. I bet you will see the same thing with a higher kick shaft and lower launch angle.

I'm hoping for similar results. At the very least, I hope the mistakes I make will be less costly. I can't wait to get to the range (I picked up my club today).

i bought an FT-i at christmas, came with a stiff Speeder shaft. i was lucky to get 250-260 yds out of it. off to the fitter i went, had a new shaft installed. higher kick point, stiffer shaft(Speeder stiff isn't that stiff).

went back to the range, bam! 280 yds. way more solid contact, lower launch angle, just feels right now.

So, I picked up driver (complete with my new shaft) on Tuesday. I finally got a chance to hit it on the range today. My slice was gone and I was hitting the ball a bit lower and straight as an arrow, but with similar distance. I was pretty excited. Then, after about 6 swings, I stepped back to take a break and rested the club head on the ground. When I went back to address the ball, the club head fell off! It appears the shaft broke off inside the club head. So, now I have to go plead my case to the store manager to get this fixed. Not a good start to the weekend.

That is SOOO wrong. They should take care of you. Any number of assembly flaws could make the head fall off, and if the shaft actually broke sounds like a trimming or production flaw. I've never broken a shaft through normal use. I did buy some used irons once that had been assembled with some kind of quick drying epoxy. On a hot summer day, after being in my trunk for 30 minutes, I went to the range and sent a 6 iron head about 80 yards. It took two days to find it, because I never thought it would have went THAT far. At least your head fell at you feet. Good luck.

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
