I'm somewhat spoiled down here in Texas. Usually the weather is great here for golf, unfortunately we are having a cold burst right now (at 1 C). Even though I'm originally from NY, I hate the cold. That's a result of me having had frostbite when I was younger. Not to mention, I too have had 6 knee operations (right knee) over the years and IT doesn't like the cold either.

u hit the nail on the head.. 6C however there is no such thing as bad weather just bad clothing.. I got a nike rain suit for my birthday from my girlfriend.. its warm you can bet your a$$ that I will have that thing on..and another plus is that there is no one on the course that means I can play at my own tempo.. (god I hate waiting) I dont mind people that just started playing but what I hate are those people that think the golf course is there privite meeting place where they can come and chat laugh and be marry while the people behind them wait to tee off..

You and I think alike. Even though I'm relatively new (20 months) to the game, I'm usually done with 18 holes in 2:45 to 3:15. That's when there are no idiots standing on the green in front of me chatting on their cell phone.

last weekend in Nov. I got "warned" about behavor unbecoming of a golfer. because I blasted a tee shot 230 meters to the green off a par 3. Well the problem started when my playing partner noticed that the 4 some ahead of us was chit chatting for 5 min on the green without anyone even setting up for there putt.. I got mad and took my tee shot, well the hole is 235 meters to the pin I landed about 5 to 10 meters left of the green (give or take) well needless to say they pitched a fit yelling and screaming, (I yelled fore) at me for endangering there lives my god. I said to them next time stop lollygaging around and play golf. Man I thought we were going to fight.. god that was a great day..

Wish I had been there. I can be very intimidating. I've considered a 15th club to my bag. One of my no longer used Baseball bats.

PACE OF PLAY!!!

I think this is one of the most ignored curtousies in golf. It is probably the single largest complaint people have. I respect a guy who is not playing well and needs extra shots, but it's the players who are to preoccupied with cell phones, spending too long looking for lost balls, flirting with the cart girl, or just flat out too intoxicated that cause the most problems.

I play on the reg 2 different courses and they both have winter greens.. in otherwords portion of the fairway that is mowed short with a hole.. however as long as the ground isnt frozen the reg greens stay open.. but yes 99% of the course here have winter greens so they stay open.. I play as long as there isnt snow on the ground..

The weather here should improve next week. It should be back up to about 17 or 18 C by mid week and hopefully I'll get out Thurs or Fri (or both). I should at least got on the range this weekend. Have to take out my frustations somehow!

Well I like to play at multiple courses. Usually the one that is least crowded and possibly has a special running that day. I belong to the PDP (Player development program) at Oakhurst Golf Club ( www.oakhurstgolfclub.com) . I also play frequently at Red Wolf Run Golf Club ( www.redwolfrungolfclub.com) . There I belong to the Lone Star Rewards Program, which gives me 1 free round for every 5 played. Eagle Point Golf Club ( www.eaglepointonline.com ) is another in the area that I've only payed once thus far but is one of my favorites in the area.

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
