Have you ever been to the practice round of a PGA event? Go to the equipment vans and see what the pros are trying. Many pros are trying things all of the time. The companies just hand this stuff out.

How is them trying a new putter any different from me buying a new putter? what if they got some bad mojo goin with their b=putter, a new desighn catches their eye, a new groove, whatever..Its just a putter, and its just a game. youve been proved wrong, sit down, wrap up the mouse, its over.

w/ putters I firmly believe, along w/ all golf equipment, that you get what you pay for. If a guy wants a good putter be prepared to drop atleast $150. And by all means, try different ones out. I might like the feel of a Scotty or a Ping but Joe Blow likes the Taylor Made Spider.

You dont need to drop $150+ on a new putter to try one out. A lot of sporting goods stores and golf shops have a little practice green set up where you can try out various putters. Granted, its not exactly the same putting on carpet as it is putting on a green, but you still get a pretty good idea of what a given putter is like.

Ive done that quite a few times, tried out various different putters and it gave me a good idea of what I like and dont like in a putter.

Every company makes 200 + dollar putters. Why pick on camerons? There damn nice putters. Just because you feel youdont need one doesnt mean i dont. I can put jsut fine with an insert, but i dont liek them, Scottys are soem of teh finest non insert putters available. Are they expensive yes, but you be a fool to buy them full price. I paid 200 dollars for both of mine, ( 100 for the del mar, 100 for the futura) Look, its a putter, if you can putt it, thats fine, no need for you to be lashing out against a damn fine company with remarks that dont even make sence.

I say good day mr Oak.

Id love to know where you are buying Scottey Camerons for $100. Ive wathced a few on Ebay and they all go for $150+.
Id hoped that Id maybe be able to get a Futura (Im not really a mallet guy, but Id go for one if the price were right) for $75-$100, but it seems like any putter that says, "Scotty Cameron" on it goes for big $$$.

The best thing that happened for me when I got a new putter was actually getting fitted for it by the company. I'm not sure what the fitter's qualifications where, but he sure did know his putting. He didn't let me leave until he was satisfied with how I was putting. He tweaked my stroke just a bit and I found I was sinking more putts. The ones that I didn't sink, I was close enough that the next putt dropped.

My advice isn't any of the OP but to get fitted. A lesson probably wouldn't hurt either

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
