I just got a set of MP-57s and would like to get 2 new wedges to go along with them. My question is the PW is 47* I believe, so what lofts should I get to make it even? 52, 56? 56, 60?

If you want only two wedges then my favorite options are either 52* and 58* or 54* and 60*. The former will provide you with a club to fill the distance one club below your pitching wedge, and then another wedge to use for many different shots around the green, while the latter will give you more options around the green, but there will probably be a gap between the PW and the 54*. Personally I have a 52* and 58* atm, but when I get new wedges I might try the 54* and 60* in order to have more options around the green. Also, if you can use three wedges the 52*, 56*, and 60* setup works very well. In the end it comes down to personal preference.

I play with a 54* and 58*....in the past it was 52*, 56*, and 60*. I like the 2 wedge set-up better. Much easier to learn to hit 2 wedges then 3.

I have a 56/60, so I'm missing that gap wedge.

Try a 52/58, 54/60 or 52/56.. I personally think a 60 is a very hard club to hit consistently, while my 56 is no problem at all.

I feel 54/60 is great, a higher loft and a low one, the 54 is the exact middle club for the PW and the 60.

I would get a 52 and 58 degree wedge. I think that this setup offers you the most versatility. Having wedges with even separation between loft angles is important since it reduces need for alterations to your full shot.

I know my wedges, I carry 5. Decide on your highest loft and put one more wedge smack in the middle. If it's 60 go 54/60. If it's 58 go 52/58. If the highest you want is a 56, go 52/56.

But what many people don't think about is the bounce options. Consider what uses you will have for each club. Your sand club should have a little more bounce say 10-16*. Try 4-10* in your other wedge. You want to have an option of bounces for different lies. Sometimes you are on the hardpan, sometimes you'll be deep in the greenside rough. And all things being equal, consider your swing's angle of attack. If you are a shallow swinger who picks the ball cleanly you'll want less bounce than someone who hits down hard and takes major divots. For the later guy, more bounce equals more forgiveness.

One more thing about bounce, the angle quoted on the sole doesn't tell the whole picture either. The depth and shape of the sole will affect the clubs "effective bounce". I have a 60/04 Vokey that I can hit out of the rough because the sole is relatively deep front to back. I also have a Vokey 56/14 bent to 55/13 that I can hit off the tightest of lies by delofting a little thus reducing the effective loft and bounce at the same time.

And if you don't have the lie adjusted on any other clubs, make sure you have them spot on with your wedges. A too upright or too flat lie is exaggerated on high lofted clubs. And since these are the scoring clubs you want to hit them straighter than straight.

Hope this helped.

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
