I'm pretty sure I want to go ahead and get the Odyssey White Hot #1 putter since it's cheaper than the Sabertooth. Right now TGW.com has it on sale for $99.00. Also, does anyone know how weighted the #1 is? I like a putter that's a little heavier.

I'm 6'3" , 38" wrist to floor and like to stand straighter when I putt, so I'm thinking a 35" putter will be good.

Should I buy it online for $99.00 + $5 shipping and then go in to get get the lie adjusted or just go in and buy it at a store for $119?

If you've never putted with it, you better go to the store and at least feel it and take a few practice putts on one of those in-store, artificial greens. If you've hit a few putts with it, and really like the feel, just buy it online...

What I'm going to do before I buy my new putter is go into a golf shop, practice with it a bit and see if I like it, then buy it at a discount online.

When you buy a putter at a store, what's all involved with the fitting of it? I know with irons and drivers they measure and calculate different stuff, but what about with a putter? Is it just loft? If I buy it online, I can always go in and get the loft adjusted, right?

To be honest, I know a lot of people, and I've never heard of not one of them getting anything adjusted on a putter. Irons, wedges, drivers, woods, etc. you name it, I've heard of my friends and family members getting their stuff fitted, but when it comes down to a putter, I've never really heard of many people getting fitted for one. You pick it up, and you putt around with it for a few minutes, and you either get attached to the feel, or you hate it...that's at least how I am. Right away, I know whether or not I like the putter or not to be honest with you. I could be sinking everything, but I may not like the feel of it.

If you want to get fitted, go for it...but I really don't think it's that necessary on a putter to be honest with you. I think you either like the feel or you don't on a putter, and that's all that matters.

I never understood putter fitting either. You either like it or ya don't.

I was sort of always under that impression as well until I found the "Putter Fitting" section on Golf Galaxy's website and it sort of made me hesistate in buying something I've putted around with at the store before online and just going with it right away.

Here's what they have on their site: http://www.golfgalaxy.com/galaxy/dep...KDEAFK0VNK1LN5

I'm 6'4" and got my 35" 2-ball Odyssey putter for $64 from 3-ball.com. It was in almost like new condition. I cannot recommend them enough. The putter itself improved my putting.

A few years ago I took some putting lessons from a local pro.

Once I felt that I was dialed in on my stance and posture (he'd gotten me more upright and arms hanging down lower/straighter) I had him fit me for a putter which I ordered.

My putting was okay for a while after that, but his changes were more about "technical" and "planning" and "margin for error". All good things but due to a shoulder injury and other reasons I soon layed off the game for 4 years or so.

Started playing a couple months back and picked up a different putter I had....my old 2-ball and had better results. The more I returned to my "pre-lesson" stance (slightly more crouched...eyes lower to the line...elbows bent) the feel came back and putting was a strong point of my game.

I also hacked off 1.25" of the shaft and regripped with the oversize Odyssey grip and the results have been even better.

I say all that to say this.....from now own, I'll buy all my putters at a store or pro-shop where I can demo them and they can adjust the club a bit if needed right there on the spot.

I purchased my Odyssey online, but did so after I tried it out in a few stores. I noted which length I was most comfortable with and went with that one.

    • Courses naming holes like Augusta and Shinnecock do is pretentious wanker bullshit
    • :sigh: LMGTFY: The normal range of motion for knee flexion is approximately 135 to 155 degrees, allowing for essential activities like walking and sitting. For knee extension, it typically ranges from 0 degrees to about 15 degrees of hyperextension in some individuals.
    • The course is playing tough. We’re only about 50 miles away. It very windy here and going to get worse. They’re all dressed like it’s the British Open!
    • Have posted in a while or practiced for that matter. Dealing with a few medical issues. But I was able to practice and film today. I’ve played 5 times this year. Misses have been pulls or heavy shots. I feel this has a lot to do with my lower back issues. When I feel good, I get good rotation and I hit the ball well. Today I felt good. Hips and lower back felt nice and flexible. I worked mainly on the hands feeling from the top. The club head should feel like it’s going down and away from the ball and target at the start of the downswing. The right knee should stay a little flexed at the top. These are the only swing thoughts other than high hands (arms going up) I’ve been focused on. I did PW, 6 iron and Driver today. Here is PW. The hands look better as does the knee in the rehearsal. The knee gets more straight in the actual swing.   My left arm is not straight at impact, which it has never really been. But that’s not the focus of this practice.   6 iron looks better than last time. Driver also looks better than last time. Playing tomorrow. Hopefully my body will cooperate.
