Hey, just wondering if anyone plays the Golfsmith Snakes eyes brand irons on here on how they like them. Haven't read many responses about the newer lineup of their forged line - 675B, 675C and 675XC

I just ordered myself the 675XC (mid handicap cavity backs) irons and i can't wait to get them out on a course! I just don't know which shafts to mate up with them coming from a beginner wilson prostaff set with "mens flex" graphite shafts.

I have the guy holding TT dynamic golds on the side for now.

I just hit a snakeyes driver head and man was i impressed. It had a monsterous offset on it and had some lead tape. My friends dad made it and it was fitted with an proto by you shaft and it was amazing.

That's good to know. How long have you been playing the C's? My clubheads come in today but the guy i want to build them isn't working today!

It's like torture! Anyone else with snake eyes experience?

Hey Gills - You're the first person I've found who plays wilson Prostaff's with graphite shafts. How did you find them? I've just got back into golf after 15 years (hybrids completely threw me - and the size of driver heads) but I'm thinking of keeping the clubs for a season or 2 to get my swing consistent and then get fitted.
Just wondered how you liked the Wilson's?

I started to build up a set of the 600XC w/ TT DG-300 shafts, and I loved them. I hit them just as well as my Ping's, but they went out of production before I finished my set, so now they're loaners or practice irons for me.

In my Sasquatch Tour Bag:

Driver - G10 10.5°: UST Pro Vorce V2 Shaft, Regular flex
Hybrid - G10 21° & 24°: TFC 129H, Stiff flex
Irons - S57 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, PW - Nippon 950GH stiff shaftsWedges - Tour 52°, 60° 56°Putter - 34" TracyBall - Treosoft

Well, i got mine 3 years ago, right when i started playing golf. They were nice for what they were. I think the Winn master wrap grips they came with are the best part. I think over time though, as i've gotten better they just don't cut it anymore. I'm definitely not a fan of the graphite shafts anymore now that my swing has gotten faster. Also the club heads are oversize (not too bad though) and are difficult to hit in the rough. The irons not ridiculously offset like some entry level club sets which is definitely a good thing, but the 3 wood I can't hit for the life of me because the face is closed more than enough degrees. Overall though, they did their duty for me and feel good when pured and you can tell where the ball is going to go after hitting it without looking at it. Oh, I stopped using the driver it came with about 3 months into having them. Also, the 5 wood broke (club head came flying off) and the 7 iron broke as well. So, i've been playing without a 5 wood and 7 iron for some time now. I do use others' clubs when needed though. I'd say wait it out a little more if you have irons already. Take lessons if you want to get things dialed in a little more, then get properly sized clubs. happy golfing!

    • I have trouble with vertigo on occasion, but have gotten nutritional and biofeedback tips to keep it at bay. Dehydration can help trigger v-like symptoms so one recommendation, along with maintaining overall hydration, is to start with 8 oz. of water early in the morning. A meta-analysis on Golf As Physical Activity indicated that golf is rated as a moderately intensive physical activity. This scientific literature review came from the University of Edinburgh. The physical activity level ties into hydration. A former university colleague was a marathon runner who had published a couple of articles on endurance training. He likewise said that golf was a moderate physical activity especially when the round stretched past  the two-hour mark. For hydration he recommended switching from water to electrolyte drink on the back nine (past two hour point of exercise) to prevent cramping. At the two-hour point of moderate activity, water starts flushing electrolytes out of the body, which can lead to fatigue and cramping. (I have had trouble with leg cramps in the past during exertion.) During a round, I start out with water on the front nine and switch to sports drink on the back nine. If the day is unusually hot, I may drink 8 oz. of Pedialite concentrate before going to the course. Maintaining overall hydration plus on-course boosters keeps me going.
    • Personally I’d try booking direct first - either via the Vidanta golf reservations number/email or through the resort concierge - especially for Christmas/New Year. Vidanta’s main courses (Greg Norman and Nicklaus designs) are popular and can book out fast this time of year, so direct often gives you the best shot at your preferred tee times.
