can anybody please tell me why Honma are about 4 times the price of any other irons set out there? i'm sure they're quality clubs, but c'mon, 4k for a set of irons? are they built and blessed by Japanese Samurai swordmakers?do they give you Ninja qualities?i've even seen a special edition set,in a glass display at the golf store, for $10,000! holy smokes.

I'm not sure about Honma but i know that Miura irons are all hand made and hand forged.

I think for that much, I better have a sponsor that is paying for them or more money than I need. They cannot be that good to spend that much money on them.

One thing that can be assured.....I'll never know first-hand.

I've got a ten dollar game.....can't see that those clubs could possibly help me at all.

Nice looking clubs. I guess that's good cause I wouldn't hit them if I owned them! That is a bragging rights golf club for the rich. I would love to have a set of Miura blades though, just as a barometer for my swing. I don't know that I would ever be consistent enough to play them, but I would sure love to try.

If you want to see some high-end jap.spec. equipment checkout:

TourSpecGolf

They have equipment that is only made in Japan. I guess the biggest difference is the quality control that goes into making the equipment. There's stuff that is made by the bigs (PING, TM, Callaway, etc.) that look different (better actually) but geared toward their market. Also the japanese are very discerning golfers..like check this out:

The "itsy bitsy" TM Monza Spider

Taylormade Japan introduces it's all new Rossa Monza Itsy Bitsy Spider for 2008. Based on feedback from Taylormade Japan pros, TM revised the high MOI spider by decreasing it's overall size by 20% and slightly adjusting the weight distribution throughout the head. TM slightly changed the sight line and added a plumbers neck. Overall this creates a more stable and solid feel with even less twisting on impact. The Itsy Bitsy Spider features an Aluminum Steel Wire body with Titalium face featuring ASGI+ and 2 x 4g weights in the back to help increase MOI.

The Itsy Bitsy Spider is available in 33, 34 and 35" lengths for men with standard Winn XL Medalist 08 (58g) grip. The 34" length is alos available with Winn XL Jumbo Pistol 08 (124g) grip for those looking to increase overall weight.

TM has also released a 32" model for the ladies featuring pink accents.

The Itsy Bitsy Spider will begin shipping in November so any orders before then will be considered pre-orders.

I think it looks WAY better than the Monza Spider we can get here in the US no?

..lot of eye candy on that site.

To Maverick: That's a website I'll never buy clubs from.

..did you have a bad experience buying from them?

believe it or not Tourspec does not blow their prices up, they are competitive with japanese markets

I played with a korean man yesterday who vactioned in japan and picked up a set of "no name" irons that he watched get handforged in front of his eyes. I was lucky enough to strike a ball with one of them and while they were a larger cavity back club I almost fell over how soft and buttery they were

he probably paid 4 grand for them as well, but I will tell you that the highest quality of japanese clubs are better than ANYTHING you can find here in the US
