OK so I've played golf seriously now for a couple of years using an old Wilson putter. I recently tried the Ping I-Series Anser blade and it didn't work out too well for me. My tendency is to lift my putter a little too high and miss the insert all together, but we'll save that for another thread.

Anyways, I'm really into the Scotty Cameron putters, probably because my cousin (who taught me the game) continuously professes his love for his Cameron putter. My big problem is distance control, and so will a Cameron putter really help me in that department? Also, which exact putter should I go with? Has anyone compared two or all three of these putters and could share their thoughts? Right now I'm leaning toward the Select b/c I like the feel at ball contact a little better than the GSS insert of the Style. The Circa '62 has a nice finish which I'm sure will handle glare better, but I'm not a big fan of the body styles or the dot alignment visual instead of a line. Any thoughts would be great, thanks.

no putter will make you have better control unless you know how to judge it, every putter is different....... ive used a 20 year old ping pal for the longest time and putted perfect with it when i got my circa 62 model 1 i loved it but couldent putt worth a shit...... untill i learned how to judge it...... i think if you either have a $10 dollar putter or a $350 putter they will both get the job done its just how you use it..... remember its the puttee not the putter...... your game will come together man just give it time, if you have a problem with distance control work on it...... it will come,

If you have issues with distance control, Id go with a Scotty Cameron Red X. With a mallet putter, you are less likely to leave the putt short.
Also, if you mishit and miss the sweet spot, it wont effect the distance as much.

You may have just summed up for me why I love mallets so well...in particular, the RedX is a sweet one.

i have the 62 with the black finish. it takes some work to take care of it. it rusts up pretty quickly...although i think the slight rust gives it a nice look.

besides that, solid contact feels very buttery

I just got the Studio Select Newport 2, and I love it. I like the looks of some of the Circa '62 models, but they only come in 35" and 330grams. That is too light for me (I like an extra heavy putter). The Red X is a nice line that you can get in different lengths and offsets if you are a mallet user. They also get heavier as you get shorter lengths: 33"/350, 34"340, & 35"/330. The Studio Select line is 10 grams heavier than the Red X respectively: 33"/360, 34"350, & 35"/340. Plus, you can send the Studio Select line to the Custom shop to add more weight if you prefer. I am waiting on mine to get back from the Custom shop right now. I believe that they can add weight to some of the Red X's as well. I just liked the feel off the face of the Studio Select line over the others. I would have considered a Circa if they came in the 33" and heavier head that I prefer. You should check out the Scotty Cameron site for some of the custom options that you can get applied to any of their putters. They just offer more options on the Studio select, so that made a difference to me in choosing that putter. Any Scotty is going to be awesome, but you should try a few and see how they feel to you. You are the one who is going to be using it and it should just feel right in your hands.

I have both the Studio Design and the Circa 62, and I prefer the 62. Maybe it is because it is a tad longer, and I love the grip (the stitched leather vs the black baby T on the SD) but it is the best putter I have ever used.

I think all of Scotty's are good, but there are a lot of other good putters out there as well.

My brother has the new Taylormade putter (not the spider the blade one), and absolutely loves it, another buddy just got a new ping and has proceeded to shoot at least 5 strokes under his handicap in each of his last 4 rounds (not saying that is all due to his new putter, but it can't hurt).

If you definately want a Scotty and are willing to spend the cash, I would go test a few out and find out which one suits you, as it is all personal preferance.
