I have posted a couple of my swing videos and I am looking for some analysis of what people think. A little information about myself I started golfing this summer and you can click the “my game” link in my signature to see some of my scorecards. I usually slice the ball with my outside in swing but I am trying to correct that and any help would be much appreciated.

For one thing, move the ball farther back in you stance. The ball should be just inside if not lined up with the heal of the left foot. That will help some.

yes, your ball is too far forward. place it inside your heel. also you have a reverse pivot going. i'll post up a more in depth analysis later tonight...closin the office early and hittin the golf course today =)

Yikes, a few things. You need to maintain knee flex in your right knee. You are locking the knee early and keeping it extended.

You are also coming into the ball on a very steep (over the top) plane. Try to flatten out your swing and come from the inside.

Also, it looks like your club face is wide open at the top of your swing. It's going to be hard to get the club face back to square. You may want to check your grip!

And finally, I would try shortening your backswing. You should gain more control and consistency.

Bill,

I had the same issue with the straightening of the leg and that was one of the priorities that i worked on when i was Stratton. I think i told you about that when i took the video.

You probably wouldn't be able to go back as far as you do if you kept your leg more bent and torqued it more. Unless of course you're very flexible!

We both know how flexible I am since I cant even reach my toes on my right foot.

ha! I pretty sure that's part of the reason why I've had/you have a tendency to straighten. We've gotta get more flexible ;)

try to get your right elbow closer to your body this will help with inside to out swing path and flaten your swing out a little. also your left arm is breaking down try to keep your arm straight with little or no bend this will help with accurcy and your overswing try those tips see if that helps. good luck.

Your swing is the classic outside/in with the 2nd half of the down swing resembling a baseball swing motion rather than golf swing motion. Practise staying on line with the back swing and down swing on the same plane. Furthermore you have an over swing at the top of the back swing whereby your club is aiming 30 yds + right of where you want to be.
Your club swing was very similar to mine outside in. I finally cured it and really it was simple. 2 things I would try. First on the back swing go striagt back at least 2 feet. "Just if there is a 16.9 water bottle standing 2 feet behind the ball that you would knock it down on the back swing

Better yet I played a lot of baseball and softball in my life. Practice swinging a baseball swing in your normal golf stance. Then picture in your mind a ball teed 2 feet high and practice that swing. Then come down to about 1 foot. Then 8 inches then your normal tee height.

Trust me you will be swinging inside out. One last thing dont grip to tightly and swing smothly. I have not watced the videos yet another good practice at the range is try hitting your drive 125 yards.

One other good type to help tempo is do a 1-2 count on your swing 1111 back and 2222 forward.

I am a high handicapper however I have cut 12 to 14 strokes off my score in the last 2 outings.

    • Day 1: After a long practice layoff due to injury, vacation, winter darkness, and work stuff, I'm trying to start back up again. Today I just hit balls with keys from my lesson 6-ish weeks ago; neutral grip and centered turn. Gonna work with that for a few weeks, see how it goes, and then get a lesson scheduled.
    • It’s not live on free to air tv in the UK, and hasn’t been since 1995. ( I pay a subscription to Sky for generally good golf coverage). There are limited highlights on the BBC for some golf events, but that’s it. Are other/all PGA events on NBC?  Allowing ticket scalping is a systemic failure across sports and showbiz, which could be legislated against, but in the UK is not in any meaningful way. I don’t know much about the secondary market in the US or anti scalping measures.  Charging more to keep prices down is an interesting concept, in practice no doubt you are right even if It sounds a bit Catch 22  Do you think sports tickets and broadcast rights  should be sold on a purely capitalist basis, or is there an argument to say that some sports might benefit more from wider exposure and affordable access. ( golf in the US is apparently not one of these if tickets sold out at those prices so quickly)  Fans might benefit from cheaper tickets and in the UK at least, TV coverage that reaches a wider audience.
