I currently carry a 45 and 50 degree wedge, both from the cg gold set. And a 60 degree vokey. I can either order the 55 degree SW to my iron set or get a 56 vokey, what do you all think?

55-56 deg are sand wedges, the thing you need look at is the bounce you'll probably need a pretty high bounce, but don't get the highest bounce unless you live where the sand is real fluffy like FL.

I use a 56 degree wedge from Mizuno the MP series with 11 degree of bounce and It works fine from the sand. I get more bounce when I open the face up.

i use my 58º out of the sand and it works like a charm. If i'm from a longer distance, i use my 52º. eventually, i'm going to move to a 53º and a 59º, with the 59º having slightly more bounce than the 53. Maybe 8 degrees on the 53 and 10 on the 59.

Absolutely a 56* will work. My SW is a 56* with 13* of bounce. My 60* also has 8*of bounce, so I can use it if the situation calls for it, but I usually use the 56*.

56 is the club for sand shots, some of my buddies take out the 60* because it has more loft, i personally think i have to swing too hard for comfort with the 60, 56 is the stick

A 56* will work just fine from the sand.

I'd go with the 56 to match my Vokey. I have a lot of tight lies at my course which turn into muddy tight lies when its wet. My 56/14 (bent to 55/13) seems to handle all of these lies, as well as the rough and our fairly fine sand. If I think the lie is a tad too tight, I move it back in my stance a little. It's the only high bounce SW I have been able to hit out of tight fairway without fear of bouncing into the shot.

I use both my 56 and 60

no real reason how I decide, just mix it up sometimes

I currently use a 56* SW with 15* of bounce. I'm in the process of upgrading my set and think the next SW will have 10* of bounce. I play NYC public courses that generally have very little sand in the bunkers. And, if they do have sand, it's usually quite hard. If I was playing in fluffier sand, I'd definitely go with 12-15* of bounce.

I prefer the "specialist" sand wedges to those that come with the set. Go with the Vokey or even Cleveland CG14 on the SW with a minimum bounce of 10-12 degrees.

    • Unless it has changed recently, CONGU – who control handicapping in Great Britain and Ireland – affirmed the Local Rule could not be used in any qualifying competitions or general play scores. That’s any event where handicap marks could be affected.
    • I think you are spot on.  Seems like every survey I read about playing golf in the US says that the biggest issue here is pace of play. Anything that can help pace of play feels like a good idea.
    • Just checking.  Are you healthy again? I seem to remember you going through some injury issues. Are all of those behind you now? Or are you still doing PT?
    • Funny, I heard a talking head on the radio this afternoon saying words to the effect of "Why would any coach want to draft Shedeur Sanders?"  The point being that since Deion Sanders has expressed interest in becoming an NFL head coach, allegedly even going so far as to "reach out" to NFL teams to express interest in taking over their head coaching duties. Why would you draft Shedeur Sanders knowing that if you get off to a rocky start with him Deion is going to "reach out" to your owner and suggest that he should take over head coaching duties?  Of course their are more people involved in the decisions on who to draft, but if I'm a head coach and I have a say in the process. I think I'd stay away from him.  It was an interesting take. I actually didn't think of Deion that way. I pictured it more of having to deal with Deion Sanders second guessing you all the time and being annoying in the media. I never really thought about Deion Sanders actually taking your job.
    • I mean we're going to win two or three of the next four super bowls, so copying might be a good idea... 😉🦅 Of course, we've gotta stay ahead of the curve, so everyone started drafting DTs, we went with LBs 🤣
