My current "go to club" from the fairway is my Taylormade Rescue 22 degree. I am just more comfortable hitting it off the deck than I am with my steelhead 3. What would compliment the Rescue? a 19 degree? Something new on the market? I am looking for just a little more distance using the same swing setup. Thanks.

Guess it depends on if you want the same club?
I use 3 different hybrids. I assume next time around I will get 2-3 matching, but the nice thing is...each is weighted and plays a little different. The middle one can easily go into the shorter or longer one's yardage. It all depends on the shot truly and my swing each day. Sometimes I just choke up or go full bore depending on my mindset at the time. I do love the clubs though, large distance options for me. For example, any of them have about a total of 20 yards I can work with and usually be within 5 yards of my "guess". For me, this is great, but others might not like it.

I used to have the same club and it was the natural progression for me to go for the TMR 19* to compliment my TMR 22*. At that point it was the best set-up for me that i also added a 25* of the same make. That was my set up until i found out i could hit woods.

A 19 degree would work fine. I did the opposite. I had a 19 and got the 4H TM Mid Rescue.

To me, having the same model of clubs helps me with consistency of set up. Trying 2-3 different hybrids (esp if the shape is different) for me would not help me, personally. I have since taken out the 5 wood, since I hit the 3H as far. I use the 3 Wood off of the tee and the occasional perfect lie from the fairway.

    • My flop shots are 6-7° down (AoA). Does that answer it? 😄  The longer answer is… You have to be able to do both shots.
    • I hope you don't mind me raising this one from the dead. I got shortgamechef's video access thing for a few months in 2024. I watched his yip fix videos (the general gist is similar to the first video above, but with a lot more detail) and it made a lot of sense. I was working on it in my backyard off a mat for a while and my yippy thing was mostly gone. Aside from anything else, the flop shot using that technique is so easy and controllable. But I got onto a golf course for the first time of the year and found myself by the green on a downslope with the ball sitting down a little in the rough and I was, not to put too fine a point on it, f***ed. Shallow is all well and good from a good flat lie and I understand it, but you can't make that your be all and end all. I still don't know if it's a good idea to use steep all the time or just when you need to. I have a hard enough time with one technique, let alone too.  Just got a pitching skillest lesson with Erik and unless I misunderstood things some, he wants me a bit steeper. @iacas - where do you fall on the steep vs shallow argument and how do you vary it according to need?
