Has anyone used these? How do you like them. I currently have the ping i10 S400 shafts, there just to heavy for me and too stiff.

Has anyone tried playing with both of these shafts, prefer one over the other. Any input would be good. I have an opportunity to switch out sets.

try true temper high launch shafts they are realy light and you could easiy find them in regular flex.

thanks for the reply.

Not sure if I want to go too light, I have an opportunity to switch my set for another with the AWT.

The S400 are just to heavy and too stift. I like the S300, which makes me think it is more of a weight thing rather than stiffness.

Will the ones you mentioned be too light?

Shaft weight info

AWT = Ascending Weight Technology, come in Soft Regular, Regular, Stiff, Extra Stiff. The shafts are lighter in the long irons and the weight gradually increases into the short irons. The differences in weight will give a "flighted" ball flight where the long irons will encourage a higher ball flight and short irons be lower and more control.

Do you want a higher ball flight or a lower, more piercing ball flight. I currently play i10's and the ball flight is WWAAAYYY to high for me, and right now I play the AWT's. So if you want a higher ball flight go with the AWT's, if you want a lower ball flight go with the ZZ-65's (both stock offerings in PING irons.)

Here's what I play:

Umm if im u ill try the project x shafts. Its equally weighted and it is lighter then the true temper

I guess my problem with my current S400 shafts is that I have trouble getting my club head back due to the weight, I am fine with my scoring irons, it is more of an issue with my 4, 5 and 6 iron.

Personally I would like a higher trajectory, but not to excessive. I just feel the s400s are just to hard for me to hit, yes it could be my swing as well, just dont feel comfortable with the heaviness on them.

I do like my 7 iron on with the s400, I feel I have more control with my shot, which I would rather have then the distance, where as the 4-6 iron I am looking for some control but distance as well.

I play with x-stiff awt's on my i-10's. I wouldn't trade them for the world. my swing speed is up over 110 though, so depending on that your swing speed might wanna look at a different flex.

The one complaint I have is that the shaft really magnifies the hitches in your swing. If you pull the club head through before your arms are ready the shaft is gonna follow your lead and once in a while I end up pulling the ball left, straight, but left. That might have something to do with the stiffness though.

overall, great shaft. highly recommended.

G10 10.5* TFC 129 S

My swing speed is more around 100-110 with my irons. I think the stiff would work out for me, I will try them first and see which one feels more comfortable.

You have a 100-110 mph swing speed with you IRONS?! Wow dude, you are a BEAST!!!!!!

Well that explains the continued high ball flight I get. I swear it is obnoxious. They just sail on me. I may have to send my irons in to ping an get the ZZ-65 shafts put in them.

"My ball is on top of a rock in the hazard, do I get some sort of relief?"

    • There is 100%, incontrovertible, undisputed evidence and proof that he wasn’t winning majors from 2015 - 2024. Even though I concede that my take is laughable, I don’t think it’s laughable to say that Rory’s major drought during that period is one of the most extreme droughts in modern golf history.  Extreme meaning, with his innate and physical talent (AND his major record pre-2015), he could’ve should’ve won multiple majors during that period. If you agree with that, then the question is why?  What was preventing him from closing the deal on majors?
    • You have no proof that Rory's perceived "jackedness" was hindering him from hitting the crucial shots under pressure at the majors. I don't think his jackedness caused Rory to miss a combined like 7 feet of putts over the last 2 holes at the 2024 US Open.
    • Not a problem chetlover, as I look back - even thought I truly believed in the take - it looks laughable.  IF - Rory had done some of the things I mentioned and lost, I’m sure I would have trumpeted how prescient I was.  But now, perhaps my take can be considered for a Wall of Shame. Colin M - - haha, he’s jacked for sure - jacked on Big Macs. Brooks and Bryson;  Brooks buffness looks pretty natural?  And Bryson - definitely on the bizarre end of the spectrum.  But for both Brooks and Bryson, they were winning majors.  Whatever jackness they had-have, natural or extreme, was not hindering them from hitting the crucial shots under pressure, at the majors.
    • Did Rory ever explain the horrible pitch on 13? Was it a miss hit?
    • ^^^ I think this year gave us something incredibly exciting, but also special. That list of career grand slam winner is something else. Well, except for Gary Player.
