The reason I even knew about them is because I played as a single last week and got paired with a father/mother/daughter and the daughter was playing one. When her swing was good, the ball flew fine.

My young son is picking up the game, much to my delight.

Just a suggestion, but at this stage of the game I'd say the most inexpensive ball you can find.

Dub you really need to look into having your son join the First Tee of Augusta. He'll have to take the beginner level class (pre-Par certification) in order to be a member, but it's definitely worth it. It's an 8 week class and you can take it with him. Members get range buckets for .50 cents and they can walk the 6 hole course for $2. The course is in great shape and is set up well for kids (4 par 3's, a par 4, and a par 5). An added plus is that on the course there is no pressure from other groups regarding how slow you're playing. A lot of adults play out there (to walk it's $1 per hole for non members) but everyone knows it's there for the kids and acts accordingly. I play out there all the time with my sons. This Summer we were out there practically everyday! Another neat thing about playing there is that we'll always end up finding lots of balls. Nice balls. Sometimes out in the middle of the fairway?!? I haven't had to buy my son any balls, and we've got a huge rubbermade container at home full of practically brand new balls.

I actually found a Dunlop (i think) Ladies ball and tried it out. I was impressed with it around the green but I actually lost distance off my drives so I went back to my TP Blacks. I agree with Chief Broom, just find balls around the course or buy some inexpensive ones like the Nike's that have been suggested. Every kid loves Tiger.

Oh, and there are always these bad boys:

I wouldn't have noticed unless you pointed it out, LOL. What does a low compression ball do in comparison to a high compression ball?

Anything cheap. You figure there will be a lot of lost balls. I know I played lower end balls for a while when I started.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
