1) Try going to the golf store and have the sales person see your swing and have them recommend an inexpensive driver with a liberal return or exchange policy.

2) Try going to a club maker and have them let you try a drive that they recommend for you.

3) Go to ebay or Craig's list and buy the largest head driver and shaft flex that the above two have recommended and least expensive driver and take your chances on how you will hit it.

4) Keep in mind that drivers have head size, loft, shaft flex and slightly closed faces when considering drivers.

Go on ebay. You can find a Taylor Made r540 for $30 + ship usually.

alright thanks, i have another question, should i get a bigger sized driver head or smaller, and also, is shaft flex a good thing or bad?

Shaft flex is a good thing if it's right for your swing speed. If you get the wrong flex, it could kill your drives. Most people at your hdcp don't have a high swing speed, so you'd be better off with "regular flex".

You can't ask us stuff like which loft, which shaft, etc. We know nothing about your swing or anything about you at all for that matter. You would need to get fitted to get the perfect loft, flex, etc. Although, default loft I guess would be 10.5.

Golf USA, Golf Galaxy, Golfsmith, any major golf retailer. Basically you go in front of a launch monitor and try a bunch of different drivers, and it gives you different stats, and by the end, you should have the correct loft, flex, length, lie, etc.

Although, then you'll probably get suckered into a $200 driver. :\

My advice, and just mine, is with your handicap go with a 12* or higher loft. More backspin means less sidespin. You should hit more fairways. Unless you are one of the rare few beginers with a high handicap that hits it dead straight and high with a 95+ MPH swing, more loft will do you more good than anything else in a driver. That being said there are more 10.5 used drivers than you can shake a stick at. I would not consider less loft than 10.5 until you really get fitted for a brand new driver.

If you want used, go Callawaypreowned for a safe buy. I've had good experiences with them. Any of the other sites mentioned above should be great too. Go for 425CC or larger, because a smaller head will have no resale when you upgrade. Any of the major brands that you like from the last 3 or 4 years should do for now.

alright thanks stacey, and no im not the one to hit it straight at all, also i have a question, can some one explain the cc. and how it works and what it is

CC stands for cubic centemters. Just like on a motorcycle's engine. There is a limit of 460CC ( I think) for the size of a driver head, set by the USGA. It's just a way of measuring the volume of the head. Some are tall faced and shallow, some are short faced and deep. But the overall volume of the head has to be within a certain limit to be USGA conforming. But you will find them bigger. I think they sell a 540 CC head at Walmart.

oh alright that makes sense, i was kinda figuring that thats how it worked but i wasnt sure
