So who's the world # 2 now?

World Golf Rankings still have Phil at #2 with Padraig #3 even after Paddy's PGA win which is his 3rd major out of the last six. I understand it's a weighted/rolling points system based over the last few years but I say Padraig's #2 in the world regardless of what the rankings say.
When was Phil's last major win...2006?

I honestly feel that Phil Mickelson is number two in the world.... notice my avatar, I love Paddy and he's had a great year but I personally believe that the world rankings have a lot more to do with the long term aspects of someones game. Paddy has major, three out of the last six and that is very, very impressive but he doesnt have a strong PGA tour career. Yes, Phil's last major victory was in 2006 but you also have to analyze PGA tour victories... something Paddy lacks.

Paddy plays a lot more in Europe than Phil does and my guess is that's what hurts his ranking more than anything. I would suspect European Tour tournaments aren't given the weight of a PGA tournament. If that's the case, I think it's unfortunate, because I think the European Tour is a lot stronger than people give them credit for. Whether the real World #2 is Paddy or Phil, I don't know, but certainly it's very, very close.

IMO, Phil lost his footing and is living on his earlier close finishes and win.. Phil's lost his #2 IMO, and Paddy with 2 major wins (and that's it really) is #2..actually, he's #1 Tigers not playing this year...

Yes... Paddy is having an unreal year but rankings are based on careers not years...

I read this in the paper today, Paddy's number 3 but has a better win percentage in the majors than Phil and even Tiger in the past two years.

Phil also finished in the top ten at the pga so he would have got good points there also.

I think right now if you base it off just this years play, Padraig Harrington. But obviously over the stretch of their careers Phil Mickelson is the better golfer.
