I read in one GolfDigest magazine - dont try to hit 3wood off fairway if you dont swing over 100mph (really?) - anyway thats not a problem for me, since i can easily hit my 3wood off the deck and dictate direction and trajectory for the shot.

My SS is around 105 and i really would like to be able to hit a 2wood off the deck but so far i didnt had much luck with it - i just dont get it to launch properly. Off the tee i carry about 220m+roll (my 3wood is about 210m but a lot less roll - i normally can get that thing to stop on greens) and i dictate trajectory - but off the fairway its just low flying/slicing crap who go 170m+huge roll - but nobody wants this.

So for you guys who actually have expierence with a 2wood - how do you set up, what tips do you have for it. Or is it just a practice thing to get used to it?

I have not hit a 2 wood off the deck, but I have hit the driver off the deck and its a 10.5 degree Taylor Made R5 450 cc.

I play a cut with an open club face and take it outside in, I focus on hitting down on the ball and adjust my club face depending on what direction and height I want from the ball. I play this shot around, under and over trees with a slice.

Well that would be an option, but if i cut it with the 2wood it would be like my 3wood if i try to hit a draw so distancewise there is not much in it - but i will try it on the range.

But i guess overall - its not very useful to replace 3wood with 2wood if you can hit your 3wood like a charme from anywhere, and if you struggle to get the same consistent performance out of the 2wood.

Its fascinating how much 2° less can make such a difference - both are Taylormade Burners (3wood normal - 2wood TP-version)
