I switch drivers because I can. I am on my 3rd driver in less than a year and there is little difference in how I have hit each (other than my own game improvement)

I will probably randomly switch out the rest of the clubs in my bag over the next year or so, not because there is a need, just because I feel like it and can afford it.

I'd like to get a new one soon because I feel that my current one is inferior to drivers made in the last few years.

To begin this season i was using an old Taylormade R580 with the stock stiff shaft and wasn't really looking for a new one. I was bored one day browsing around on e-bay and found a Titleist 907D2 for real cheap and placed a bid not expecting to win it, but long story short, i now play the titleist and it was the best thing to happen to my game, i gained 10-15 yards on an already long drive.

I change my driver because I'm a terrible golfer.

Okay I changed to a 10.5 loft, reg flex 460cc Adams Ovation three or four years ago when I decided to get back into golf and realized that my driver was as big as a modern pitchin wedge. And then, with the help of lessons, I fixed my swing to the point where it resembled an actual golf swing.

And so last year I changed to a 9.5 loft, stiff flex Adams Insight BUL. I felt a lot more control with the stiffer shaft, though my swing speed is right on the boder between Reg and stiff. I think it's because the stiffer shaft keeps the clubhead aligned better on my occasional grossly fat mishits. I changed down on loft because I hit the ball a bit high.

So now I still hit the ball a bit high (consistently high, across all clubs), I can get 250 yards when I hit it straight, but I struggle with an intermittent slice/strong fade. I'm thinking going down in loft to a 8.5 might help with the trajectory of my shots. And going to a more MOI-oriented clubhead might help me hit it straighter.

Or I could spend the money on lessons, but right now, getting off the tee and onto the (right) fairway is where my game is getting held back.

I changed out my driver after my starter driver was shown to be far inferior to my current driver.

Well said. This discribes my rationale for my last upgrade.

Because I can't hit it 300 yards straight most of the time. But really it's just good plain fun.

I only change drivers or clubs for that matter only if they are old, or broken.

Says the kid that just bought a new Nike driver and Ping irons within the last month.

I change a driver in order to get a combination of more distance and greater accuracy off the tee.

And here I was practicing to try and achieve the same goal!

He's had his Nike driver since I joined... May 24th .. . he's had it a while. (probably much longer than since May)

And he broke 2 of his irons, I believe, so he got new ones.

I do it just to do it. lol. I'm a firm believer in technology though so that's another reason. But I'm one of those people that likes to have the new shit just to say I have it. God, I hate myself.

I changed from my 905R cos I could do nothing but slice with it. Yes, I could have worked on swing to correct the issue, but I found that going back to a TM R7 driver sorted it (had one before the 905 but it broke - 905R was an exchange from the shop)

I love the R7 Superquad, which was on the more draw setting (both heavier weights towards the heel - 12g-12g-1g-1g) and this straightened the slice. I was finding recently after a lot of practice that the srives were beginning to pull. Changed the weights yesterday to 12g-1g-12g-1g so on the draw setting and its made a bit of improvement. Straighter with only a slight draw, and a lower trajectory so getting a little bit of run on the ball now. Prob the same overall distance though.

So, I change when I discover something just won't work for me. Or, when I have had something for a long time - I'm not a regular equipment changer though.
