The last few rounds I have played, I have been hitting the ground before hitting the ball with my driver. I took a few more swings and kind of analyzed what I was doing. For a while I have been practicing hitting down on the ball with my irons and it seems that I created a steep plane. Now if I rock back to my heels a bit, I can flatten out my swing plane. Would this be the best way to flatten out my plane or should I try something different?

Being back on your heels isn't considered a very "athletic" stance. It doesn't give you much balance or power.

I also have a problem with picking up my driver and hitting down at the ball. I've done my best to keep that club close to the ground, using my shoulders' turning to move the club back. Then after about 1 1/2 feet, I'll start to load up.

Just practice it slow, keeping your head still. Remember, you should generally have 1 swing for all clubs. Its simply ball position and your distance from the ball that change.

You might also want to tee up a bit higher when using the driver. Since you should technically be hitting up on the ball.

try standing just a touch farther from the ball. Feel like you are just reaching a little little LITTLE bit.
