I went to sign up my son in the First Tee Par class this morning (first day to sign kids up for "Season 4")

They openend at 8:00am. I arrived at 8:15am....parking lot was packed and overflowing into an adjacent lot.

The line started outside the clubhouse. I waited in line until 10:05am to get him enrolled.

Unreal turnout. I am amazed at how popular this program is.

Dub-

Could you please post updates about you and your son's experience with the program? I keep emailing my local chapter to see if I can volunteer, but no one ever gets back to me. (I keep forgetting to call. I only seem to remember when I: (a) don't have time to call; or (b) late at night - hence, email.) Anyway I would like to know how it goes. I have hear it is a fantastic program. Not sure what I could do to help in a volunteer capacity (I am NOT qualified to teach the golf swing, and I don't want to be stuck inside somewhere), so if you could relay your observations about what kind of help they require, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

No, but it does look like they have their own golf course right next to Augusta municipal:

Dub I went called them at the FToA yesterday afternoon after reading your message and they still had openings so I went out and registered my 9 yo in the pre-par class Tuesdays at 5:15. My older son has done it before and he's planing on taking another class this Winter. He's planning on trying out for the golf team at DFA which starts in January so we'll have to see how his schedule goes. This past Summer we were up at the FToA practically everyday. When they are members the rates are crazy low.

Nike Vapor Speed driver 12* stock regular shaft
Nike Machspeed 4W 17*, 7W 21* stock stiff shafts
Ping i10 irons 4-9, PW, UW, SW, LW AWT stiff flex
Titleist SC Kombi 35"; Srixon Z Star XV tour yellow

Clicgear 3.0; Sun Mountain Four 5

    • Day 51 (yesterday was 50, not 59 -- that was a typo).  I didn't have a ton of time today.  I hit a dozen balls with a 6-iron in my practice room.   Amazingly, after this I did the ShotScope analysis of yesterday's round;  my approach play was at the 5 hcp level.  That's pretty darn good, but unfortunately for my score, some of that came from hitting a few good recovery shots.  But I also hit some really good approach shots that weren't from trouble!

    • Day 295 6-26 Low point control with towel again. Getting better but not swinging fast enough tonight.
    • Shot a 37 today! Palmer Course, PGA National. Really fun. 6/9 GIR, no lost balls. The double and the bogey were both three putts from like 35 feet or so.  The birdie at the last was really fun. I stood over that fifteen footer and thought wow I’m really about to make this, aren’t I? And I hearted it. Really fun. It’s like 9000 degrees outside but I battled through it well. Good times.
    • I had been in a bit of a slump for the month of June. Handicap index has slowly risen, and there were few sub-80 scores. Today was a different story at Leslie Park GC. Lots of solid shots, GIR's, up & downs, for a 77 (7.8 differential). As with most rounds, there were a few loose shots and crappy putts, but it was a good day.
