I am mid handicap and looking for new irons. My problem is that right now I have Pro select and they have a very thin sole. So I don't want to go back to wide sole clubs. from just pictures I was looking at the i10s, x forged, and AP2. I will get fit I just want a basic idea before hand on what I could be looking at. I was thinking of getting blades in the hope that it would help me with getting better as these pro select did (not much forgiveness for a CB) but I think that might be too much of a jump and I feel I would never get the right swing so I am more or less looking at a players club with forgiveness but not a lot of it. I would still like to have to work for a better swing. Currently my irons are about the best part of my game and I only mis hit 1/5 shots at worst. I would like to hit blades just to see how percise my swing is. But I don't think I am ready to buy them. What if not all or any of those clubs would satisfy good feel with SOME fogiveness but not all. Or are there other irons I could look at. Thank you for any and all help

Mp-57's get great reviews, and to my knowledge are primarily blades, but still forgiving.

I would suggest the i10's, I have a set, and they look really good at address, they are pretty forgiving, and feel great on shots that are struck pure.

Here's what I play:

No problem, if you have a high ball flight stay away from the AWT shafts as they will make the flight higher.

Also I would suggest finding a local Ping fitter here , and getting fit if you decide to go with the Pings. He/she will do a static fitting first and then based on the Ping color code chart and fit you for your color code (lie angle) and length. Then the fitter will have you hit all of the clubheads that you are interested in and then you can order the set with any iron makeup that you want.

You may also want to wait a few weeks if you decide on the pings because the new S57's are coming out and the clubhead looks smaller at address and is supposed to be more forgiving.

Here's what I play:

Which pro select irons do you have? I have an older set of DS-1's and I have always liked them, but being more like a 25+ handicap (generally shoot right around 100 give or take 3 strokes) I don't hit them anymore, having a set of dynacrafts now, but I still have the DS-1's, and was thinking of regripping them (they have been sitting for a few years) and giving them a shot.

I can't comment on which new irons to look at.

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

I recommend going to a local store, and hitting as many as you possibly can. Only then will you know which irons work for you.

Yeah, don't overlook the Wilson Staff line! Very good clubs at good prices. Just stay away from their ProStaff or Ultra line (that's the Walmart stuff).

I love my ci6's.

First, blades or muscle backs from 7 or 8 on up are not hard to hit and compared to cb's pretty much have the same forgivness. With that in mind, I'd suggest a combo set; the best of both worlds. There are a lot of combo sets out there and you can mix and match. If you mix and match pay attention to the lofts of both sets to there isn't a gap or much of a gap between the cb and mb.

I like the combo's b/c in my long & mid irons I want forgiving and starting at the 7 or 8 I want distance control and accuracy. (rule of thumb is cb's for distance and forgivness and mb's for distance control and accuracy).
