I just wanted to introduce myself and hopefully find some other golfer in my area(s). I live in work in Atlanta, GA, but I go home to Smiths, AL (near Auburn) sometimes on the weekends. I just picked up the game a few months ago. I do take lessons with Mark Immelman in Columbus, GA, which is cool since his bro won the Masters. Really nice guy. My best score happened last weekend. I hit an 89 at Alfred "Tup" Holmes here in Atlanta, GA. If anybody in the area wants to play, I game. Thanks for looking and I look forward to learning a lot from you guys/gals.

Welcome! I'm in central Alabama right now. I'm envious that you just picked up the game a few months ago and managed to shoot a score it took me about 15 years of golf to achieve. :)

What part of Atlanta? I'm not there right now but was born and raised south of Atlanta in Fayetteville. I get back every now and then and if I can take my clubs I do. There are lots of good courses to be played all around the area.

I am in Atlanta myself. Been playing golf sporadically for 15 years, but only seriously in the last two. Working my way from a 36+ handicap down to an unofficial 18-or-so now. Been lurking here on the Trap for months and finally decided to register and post.

What part of Bama? I know you said central, but what are you close to? Don't feel too bad. It was a one time deal. Haven't been able to touch it again.

I'm in Prattville, which is about 15 minutes north of Montgomery. We're fortunate to have some good golf around here, most of it on the cheap. I'm about 5 minutes from RTJ Capitol Hill, where the Navistar LPGA was this week, and I've got Emerald Mountain (Wetumpka) and Lagoon Park (Montgomery) within 30 minutes of my house.

      Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.

      Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂

      I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
