I don't get why people love them so much. They feel so dull even with a pure strike, and the high ballooning ballflight doesn't appeal to me, and people I've seen with them don't like that about them either. And the looks are way below Titleist's standards. So technical-looking. Just too much.but the ZB's...

Maybe I'm just different...

Yeah, why would all those PGA Tour players want to us those dull, high ballooning, ugly irons.

Wait!! Maybe because they are not dull, high ballooning, ugly irons!! S-

As I mentioned in another thread, I prefer the ZB as well. I'm going to give the AP2's a fair shake though and I'll hit them a few more times before making up my mind.

I'm not sure what the mystique is about these irons. Maybe it's something that grows on you after a bit???

Hey Guys,

In your opinion, would you guys choose Mizuno 57 or 60s over Titleist AP2s?

Thanks,
Erwin

I don't have the game for any of them.....but the bag appeal is huge on the ZB's. I'd love to be able to play them...sweet sticks.

I'm interested in seeing the new Mizunos in the stores. The local shops either have their forged muscle-backs or the other extreme...the oversize cavitys. I understand there is a new players iron with a nice cavity channel. That may be the one you are referring to.

Mizuno has always made a sweet looking stick.

Does Bridgestone offer anything close to a cavity backed forging???

Yes, they do. Take a look at the J36 and J33, series. They make both a full cavity and a pocket cavity. I've hit both and prefer the pocket cavity: forgiving while providing feedback, long, sets up nicely at address (you don't see the pocket cavity) and there is no glare.

The only problem I had with them was the idea of spending over $900. They are not cheap, used, either. The lowest price I've seen is $500.

Hey Guys,

I'm actually leaning toward the Titleist ZB's or, possibly, the ZM's.

Nice. Speaking of wedges, have you seen the Japan editions. Look at this site. Their Vokey's and other clubs look so nice, but cost an arm/leg:

Here's a pic of the Vokey's I was able to attach. They have totally different clubs there. What's crazy is the space is so limited and I'm sure golf courses must be packed. Their drivers cost around $800+ in Japan.

Thanks,
e

Who was speaking of wedges?? Should this be under a different thread??

Anyway...I am with some others who were unimpressed by the AP2. Let me rephrase, they are fine clubs, just not for me. I spent many hours on the range with the Titleist fitting cart and I really wanted to like the AP2. When they first came out and I hit them, I really liked them. As the summer wore on, I shifted more to the ZB. In the end I felt that the ZB forged was better for me. For me, in my opinion, the ball came off the ZB better than the AP2. I didn't necessarily notice anything about ball flight. With me everything is about the same. I just hit the ZB better so that is what I bought. I am not a club ho either, this is my first set in 7 years so I really wanted to do the homework and test many different things. I plan on keeping this set for many years so I wanted to make sure they were really what I wanted. IMO the ZB's are really overlooked. They offer a blend of cavity and blade style irons in one set. The ball really jumps off the club and the feel of them is incredible.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

What did you play prior to getting the ZB's? How do the ZB's compare (feel, workability, forgiveness, etc)? Furthermore, what things do you really like about the ZB? What don't you like? What about those days when your swing is "off"?

I'm very interested in the ZB's and haven't heard from many that have them. A lot of guys seem to be going w/the AP2's. I'd like to try a set out on the course, or even a range, but sadly it looks as if my only option is going to be a simulator off rock hard mats.

Prior to these I had Mizuno T-Zoid Pro 2. Compare the two and they are actually pretty similar in play that I can tell so far. Although the two have different shafts so they play a lot different for me right now. I think the longer irons are a little more forgiving in the ZB. I have actually only played 9 holes with them since I got them a couple of weeks ago so I haven't even been able to figure out the distances with them yet. I am playing this Friday and then the following Monday so I will know more after that. There is nothing I don't like about them. The two or three balls I really mishit all stayed on line, just ended up a little short. The swing is pretty locked in right now, but I am curious as to what will happen next spring when I pick them up for the first time since I don' t play at all over the winter.

Ever since the early 90's I have wanted a blended set of irons. One summer a friend who played college golf let me use a set he got from the coach for about a month. They were Wilson Staff Progressive. If I wasn't waiting for a set to be delivered that I had just purchased I would have never used them. I even tried to cancel my order but couldn't do it. The ZB is the set that I have been wanting for a long time.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.
