Hey guys,

So I just became an Established Member, so I'll guess I'll have to introduce myself. My name is Jørgen, and I'm from Norway. Just started playing golf this summer, so my game mostly sucks. But I'm having a lot of fun! I've managed to play two 18-hole rounds so far, but since I live far north the season is really short (also having a wife and kid tends to cut back on the golfing pretty well ). I've also been to a local driving range a lot, and I try to play in a Full Swing simulator once in a while.

As somebody who used to live in Stavanger, I enthusiastically welcome you!

And although the norsk golf season is short, you can get 3 rounds in a single day with the daylight!

Hi Dent! It's pronounced kinda like "Yergen". With a g-sound as in golf (as opposed to gin). The Ø is a scandinavian letter, and is a mix of an O and E.

Welcome; my great grandparents emigrated from Norway to Canada and I'd love to go there someday. The fact that there seems to be decent golf there makes it even better

      Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
