Quick question for everyone, I have an old Scotty Cameron that has seen it's day. It's an old TeI3 and I really like the putter. I want to get it refinished but not sure to jazz it up a bit or just get it back to new with the same look? Thoughts?

In my bag:
MP 57's 4-PW KBS Stiff
Ping G 20 10.5* Stiff
Taylormade V Steel 3 and 5 wood

Bridgestone J33 R Hybrid 21* NV Shaft
Mizuno MP Quad Cut 52* and 56* Spinner Shafts

Scotty Cameron Newport Two TeI3

Personally I'd get it refinished to original. When it comes time to sell it a putter in refinished original condition should sell for more than something with YOUR initials or favourite saying and paintfilled in YOUR idea of a stylish Lime Green and Hot Purple if you know what I mean!

Get it refinished back to OEM with your initials. That's only if you plan on keeping it forever. If not, get it back to stock and sell it.

send it to B.O.S.

They will put whatever finish you want on it, or go to golfwrx, check out lamont if its beat up, he can restore it to newish!

Send it to the Custom Shop, especially if you ever intend to even think about selling it, and personally I'd get it back to original paintfill and finish

I would Advise AGAINST the custom shop..i know some guys who have had bad experiences with them. If the insert is in bad shape, by all means use them, but if your just getting paint fill or a new finish or stamping, Use BOS for the finish, and then learn how to do the stamping/paintfill yourself (practice on some old clubs please!!) its very useful/fun to know how to do it yourself.

I think I asked this before but is there a site for BOS???? Are his prices reasonable? I know the Scotty's custom shop is very pricey.

I think the Custom Shop is gonna run around $190 for a complete restore of that model.

You have a great wand. If it were mine, I'd go ahead and have my initials or name stamped and get a new headcover at that time, too. I'd also have it adjusted (loft / lie) to suit me. Sweet putter.....post up the pics and story of what you do with it....sure would be neat to watch it develop.

Theres an overview, about 50 bucks (maybe more, maybe less) depending on your finish, THis is just a new finish, but if the putter/insert are still in good shape, no need to send it to scotty, im sure someone you know can stamp initials or do paintfill, plus you can always piggyback and order a new HC when some one you know orders from the custom shop.

I agree that if it's only for a paintfill job you should do it yourself, but having an aftermarket finish done on your putter will probably cut at least half of the potential buyers if you ever think about selling it, same thing can be said for the stamping

I was up on Seattle and was at his shop on Tuesday. What a great guy and he does all of the work himself. Whatever you want. His putters are all handmades, by him.
The refinishing is fabulous.

I would disagree..an aftermarket finish, (black, copper, anuything) i would say increases the value, stamping, decreases.

Slighters go for $250-$500 depending on what you want. Go to the site and put in a request.

His refinishing is pretty reasonable as well

Thanks for all the input, I just requested a quote from the Black Oxide. I will take before and after pictures to show everyone the work. Thanks

I just got a used Tei3 Newport 2 myself recently and I'm going through essentially the same dilemma. The only things I have done up to this point is get a new grip and polish up the club head. I actually really like the original look, partly because I think it's hard to find matching colors to the insert...

Keep me filled in on what you do, I'm definitely an interested party!

well I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that as I know for a fact that a whole bunch of people won't touch a scotty with an aftermarket finish with a 10 foot pole...
