Both are beautiful looking clubs, both have the progressive design. Which one do you prefer? Please share your opinions if you have played with either, if not both of these clubs. I am looking to buy a new set of irons and have narrowed it down to these two. I want to know what you like and dislike with either of the sets, do you like the stock grips, shaft, feel, workability, forgiveness, etc. I really need your input guys. Thanks

I don't think you can go wrong with either one. The Ben Hogan clubs are excellent and feel very soft. Some feedback I've received from other players using Ben Hogan clubs was that they are too soft and don't last (i.e., get dinged far too easily).

I'm also considering both of these clubs, but after trying out the Mizuno MP-60s, I have another set to choose from. Make sure you read the review of the Titleist 735.CM by Erik.

i took the mp60 and the apex ftx at the driving range and really liked the feel of the hogans better than the mp60. the apex ftx had a softer feel to my suprise. i need to know more about the titleist 735cm from people that have used it. are there any flaws with these irons? are there any negative things about these irons?

I know exactly what you mean. The Hogans are just super soft and easy to hit. That's what people have said is the great thing about the Hogans over the Mizunos, but they also said after a year and a half, the clubs were just too dinged up from normal wea & tear.

I messaged Erik about the 735.CM and he said that he prefers the feel of the Titleist over the Hogans - but he also said that you can't go wrong with either of them.

I forget what I said exactly in the review, but at this point in time, I remember that I had to struggle to find something negative to say about them. For "balance," you know...

Hans is right. You can't go wrong with any of 'em. I've always liked Titleist stuff, but I'm pretty sure I could switch between either of the other two sets you've mentioned and not miss a beat.

Well guys, i've been droooling over the Titleist 735cm over the past month, although I haven't exactly taken them out on the course or the driving range. What I've done is borrow my friends Hogan Apex FTX and found it very easy to handle and hit. That just gave me more confidence in upgrading to a player's irons with the progressive design. Your opinions and inputs were very helpful and I am that much closer to clicking the "Buy it now." option on Ebay . Although it will take some time to get use to new clubs, I am sure I can work with it. I think I will purchase the 735's. (notice my signature under irons.."soon in my bag")

IT'S OFFICIAL!!! The Titleist 735cm "CHROME" DGS300 Stiff w/ stock chord grips will be in my bag soon. I should be getting it with in three to five days, just in time for me to get use to it and use it in our March 11th tournament. I will be going to Las Vegas as well in April for a two day tournament. The only thing that I am worried about are the chord grips. I am not that fond of them but it shouldn't be a problem getting them replaced. How much does it cost to replace grips (3-P) on a set of irons. I have the Golf Pride Tour Velvet rubber grips in mind. I like those a lot!!! Thanks again guys...I will let you know how these irons work out for me.

They're sweet. The "not safe for the general public" comment I came up with during testing was this. You'll quickly see why I wouldn't publish it in a review...

hahahaa...now i really can't wait to play with them. awsome pictures you took. i will post pictures of my equipment as soon as i get my new irons plus the condom..ummm better not, its a public forum

Congrats on the purchase - hope you enjoy them. You should post your thoughts on the clubs once you've had a chance to try them out.

Thanks hansmixer. I'm sure I will enjoy these new irons whether or not I break 85. I really can't wait to get them and start working on my swing. I know I definitely need to make adjustments with these irons. If I get a chance I'll post my first score card with these irons.

    • Day 468 - 2026-01-11 Loooooong day. Did some work in the patio door (as a mirror) when I got home.
    • I caught a video on this driver; the face tech seems crazy. Looking at the heat map for ball speed, hitting it basically anywhere on the face only loses a few percent ball speed. The surprising and counter intuitive part to me was that for flat faced clubs, ball speed loss is directly proportional to distance loss. For clubs with bulge and roll this is apparently not true. The surprising part of that story being that the max distance potential looks to be a tiny pee sized area for this driver, and I feel in general for drivers. The counter intuitive part being (the myth?) that blade irons have a pee sized sweet spot and missing that tiny spot causes dramatic losses. And that modern drivers, maybe 2017 on, have massive sweet spots and are ultra forgiving. Where in reality, if this heat map data is valid and reliable, it might be a bit of the opposite. This insane tech driver appears to have a pea sized "sweet spot" while Mizuno Pro 241 irons are 28% more forgiving compared to the average of all clubs measured. Not compared to other players irons, compared to all clubs from all categories, players to SGI! The Pro 241 being essentially just a solid chunk of metal with no "tech" at all. Which for me devolves into a whole mess of what is forgiveness really? And in measurable and quantifiable results how many yards, or feet, does that translate into?
