Anyone have any experience with fitters in the NYC/LI area? Maybe I'll even travel to somewhere within the tri-state area if he's worth it.

It's $250 for a complete fitting: Putter, Wedges, Irons, FW, Hybrids, Balls and Driver. The fitting will last around 3-4 hours and you will have your equipment dialed in.

I did it and it was the best experience. Ask for either Andrew or Steven.

i've never really gotten a "fitting" for any of my golf clubs. will it improve you that much that you need to pay the amount of money for it?

Yes, absolutely. I think it's beneficial for many reasons. One, you're getting equipment suited to the way you want to play AND that ties directly to your swing. I fully understand that you may get better and your swing will change over time. (That said, you could always get your lies and lofts, adjusted) You can adjust, then but it's more important, IMO, to get better, now.

2) Instead of spending money on equipment and then regretting it later, it's best to run through the entire gamet in a fitting and finding what you like and what works. In my experience, I've yet to hear of anyone going to a retail outlet and hitting the same iron head with four or five different shafts. Then, having the fitter go into the back, adjust the lies and lofts, come back, and have you continue to hit. This goes for all equipment. 3) Getting fitted for the right ball is essential. Balls aren't cheap unless you buy them, used. Using the right ball improves your game and scores. Combine the right equipment with some practice and you'll see better results. I have. To me, the $250 was an investment and was a lot less than spending $600-$900 for a new set of irons and shafts that were still not right.

I am still in the works on my swing so once I have a swing that's more repeatable should I be getting fit? Also, if I get fitted for everything then wouldn't I have to buy a whole new entire set?

I don't see how someone who is just taking up the game and trying to learn to swing correctly will benefit from getting fitted since your swing will most likely continue to change as you progress. Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't it be more beneficial to get fitted once you have grasped the common attributes to a somewhat good consistent swing?

Well I had a repeatable swing but reworking currently and hopefully I will be set within at most couple months. I'd like to know when that time comes I'll have someone to goto for a fitting. I haven't bought wedges yet so I can get fitted for everything all at once.

Wrx Don't be afraid to get fitted. This is the whole point about getting fitted by a reputable and experienced person. These people know the golf swing, they know what equipment works best because they are watching you swing and they are looking at numbers on the launch monitor. They are making adjustments on your equipment as you go, too. Here is a run down of what to expect: 1) They are going to measure and weigh your clubs for consistency. 2) They are going to check the lies and lofts for the same reason. 3) They are going to ask you what you would like to see in your game, improve, etc. 4) They are going to ask you what ball you play with. From there, the fitting will start. You will be given equipment that works, brand be damned. If a Sonartec 3W with 16* of loft shafted with a 40 inch graphite shaft soft stepped once, pured and set to play at a soft stiff flex is what works, so be it. They won't sell you a product just because "Dick McFly used it to win the European Masters." If your swing changes later on, they can change the lies and lofts of your current clubs. They can tweak your current equipment if that's what you want. You can keep your clubs and change shafts. You can have the shafts removed on your woods, or have them cut down. In other words, you can have anything done. These guys are the real deal. As for your swing changes, Tiger's swing was overhauled. He's still playing Nike Blades, right? They're still steel, extra stiff, right?

Hi WRX Junkie,

They did not charge me to change my lofts and lies. Normally, this is about $5 a club. It takes about 15 seconds to do. Also, forgot to mention, they will make grip recommendations, too.

Cool, when I come across some extra cash. I will definitely give the fitting a try. Does putter fitting come included in the $250?

Yes, absolutely. The fitting is everything in your bag. The cool thing about th putter fitting was getting hooked up to an electronic device that measures what you are doing with the putter at impact.

Also, for reference, they will keep all of your swing information on file and give you a copy, too.

    • Day 288 - 2025-07-15 Back home, but not a lot of time, so, mirror work. Got a nice polo and a nice long-sleeve polo, though. And a ball marker!
    • Don't get the club to come down by adding that much right side bend, yeah.
    • Day 360: did some slow swings, looking for feels to get my hands forward without my hips moving super far forward.
    • Day 75 (15 Jul 25) - Wedge work today in the backyard.  Focused on setup and  dialing in on immediate target line point in front of club. This drill helps me to center on longer range targets for tee shots as well as approaches.
    • I still need to do my pieces better.  Still a little steep in the downswing. Hands could get better depth earlier in the backswing.  This shot started left of target and went left. Probably path was out, face was closed a lot.       At A5, it’s probably the best it’s been.  I need to feel more shallowing from A5 to A6. Hands need to go straight down and club needs to shallow. I need to turn. I am just way too closed here. Just trying to buy time to lower the arms. Everything stalls from time to time. Timing is highly variable. Not a big fan of the slight EE.  I am just hanging back at impact.
