"Big" Glue hole in Callaway FT-5

Hey guys, I need some advice here.

I have a Callaway FT-5 and the glue hole plug got push inside. I can't stand the rattle/clicky noise. Last night, in the effort to get it out, I drilled the sucker. I know, what the hell I was thinking. The plug is out now, however it left me with a hole sized of a tad smaller than a dime.

So far I taped it with scotch tape. Does any of you have a good idea what to do with the hole? Adding a weight bolt? Just leave it as is? I haven't hit with it so far. Maybe later on this evening.

Any suggestion?

Perhaps you could find a lightweight filling substance and use that. I wouldn't use a weighted object or anything like that, as it may slightly change your swing. I'm not sure what would happen if you DO fill it in, but I would find out whether it would interfere with the shaft itself, and possibly future reshafting.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think a driver with a hole in it is non conforming. Pics would be great to see what you have done.

This seems to be a problem that I have encountered with Callaway drivers. It has happened to 3 of my friends and the rattle was unbelievable and very annoying! Although 2 of the them just went out and bought new drivers, I do not know what the 3rd did as haven't played with them in a while! It just seemed that they were cheaply made and could not be used for more than a year before started to fall apart!

Thats a very good point! I have no idea where they were bought although they were not the kind of people to buy off places like ebay. It could just be a manufacturing problem that callaway has had. Like ( i no this is completely different) microsoft has been having with the xbox 360 due to them rushing it out to beat ps3. That could be the same with the callaway as they wanted to beat the nike square driver that was coming out!

ditto. My friends and I have had nothing short of superb customer service from Callaway. In fact, I'd still call them...My money says they will still help you out(perhaps even send you a new driver or driver head) Good luck

I know that my FT-5 is 100%real. Since I drilled the hole, I alter the playability, therefore it voided the warranty. That's what Callaway CSR said.

I thought about the voiding the warranty but I couldn't resist. I got so aggrevated last night. I don't play in tournament, so conforming or not isn't really the issue at the moment.

The big Q is, since the body of FT-5 made from carbon composite, what can I do to seal the hole? Any tricks?

honestly i would think the driver is trash if you drilled a hole in it. but then again, there are no pics to know what it looks like

I know it was a dumb idea but I did it. O well, I'm just going to save the shaft and put it on different head. Case Closed.

      Went back to controlling my knees. That part was getting a bit sloppy when I worked on my backswing. Right hip didn't slide or gain internal rotation. I would just rotate back and around and the left knee would be in a bad spot. Really focusing now on keeping my left knee very stable and straighter in the backswing. I can't go back to the old pattern of overturning the hips. I was returning to my old pattern to time my downswing. Turn forever.  Left knee controls both knees and hips, acting as an anchor. Feel like it straightens a bit.   Hinge sooner and faster. Not in a way that sends the hands out and flips the club over. I still noticed when the hands get to A2.5, the hands would want to flip over and flatten the club out a ton.  Still trying to figure out how to roll the forearms a bit open and not just roll the club inside a ton.  Figure out the timing to get the hands down. Still getting a bit of right elbow collapsing in the downswing because the arms are too high when I turn. Everything is happening sooner now. If the hips are controlled, the backswing is shortened. Because it is shortened I don't know when to get the hands down and I just turn because the downswing is a go.  Very slow (50%) swings are decent.

      Day 207-12 Wider backswing and arm reconnecting in downswing. Did a much better job with proper wrist movements through downswing today.

      Trackman place today. I broke my tripod so could only film by hand the video the venue’s cameras generated. This is an 8 iron. Amazing how odd this feels relative to how it looks. Not similar!
