Who told you this? Do you know how many players have equipment that is adjusted? Not everyone plays with standard lie and loft equipment. Furthermore, if you look at the OEM's website, most equipment is made so that you can bend them either flat or upright and that you can change the lofts at a total range of 8*. Do you believe that an OEM would make equipment that you could not bend or damage and then say that it's okay to do so?

are you nuts? do you honestly think that I can play standard lies at 6' 5 1/2" my R7 TPs are 3 degrees upright... and I bent them myself... it doesn't weaken the metal... the same with the loft my lofts are 3 degrees upright

Didn't know you guys cared that much. Sorry for pushing your buttons.

Clubs are just slabs of metal you hit the ball with anyway.

Borf, Apologies if I came across rather rude. Not my intent. I just never heard that bending clubs ruins the metal. Again, did not mean to be rude. Just curious where the information came from.

Bending metal weakens it, its just a fact. I am taking engineering in school and have taken courses in statics and metal working. Depending on how much you bend the metal it will weaken it. Now, a degree or two may weaken it, but it might not be enough to make a noticeble difference in the short term.

Clubs are made a certain way for a reason tho, like I said before, it's better to special order your clubs to fit you, than have someone mess around with them after you own the clubs.

Ping seems to have the right idea, they fit you before you buy a set, and make them to fit you.

I won't be letting anyone bend my clubs.

Tour players bend their clubs because they dont pay for them..?

Just my two cents...

Borf, you're correct about metal fatigue, however, it's not true if you only bent the loft a few degrees. As long as you do it with the right equipment and temperature.

As far as Ping fitting goes, you could send a set of 2* flat iron set back to them and Ping will bent it to any spec you want, refinish it and dot it with the new color coded dot. Good thing is, as all other OEM, they own the inventory which could easily replace a club or two in case they damaged it during the refitting process. Bounce on the sole could also be grounded out to each player's preference, just be careful if you take too much of the metal off the sole, the swing weight would change.

    • They sure do. 158 with an 8 iron is on the high end for me
    • Went back to controlling my knees. That part was getting a bit sloppy when I worked on my backswing. Right hip didn't slide or gain internal rotation. I would just rotate back and around and the left knee would be in a bad spot. Really focusing now on keeping my left knee very stable and straighter in the backswing. I can't go back to the old pattern of overturning the hips. I was returning to my old pattern to time my downswing. Turn forever.  Left knee controls both knees and hips, acting as an anchor. Feel like it straightens a bit.   Hinge sooner and faster. Not in a way that sends the hands out and flips the club over. I still noticed when the hands get to A2.5, the hands would want to flip over and flatten the club out a ton.  Still trying to figure out how to roll the forearms a bit open and not just roll the club inside a ton.  Figure out the timing to get the hands down. Still getting a bit of right elbow collapsing in the downswing because the arms are too high when I turn. Everything is happening sooner now. If the hips are controlled, the backswing is shortened. Because it is shortened I don't know when to get the hands down and I just turn because the downswing is a go.  Very slow (50%) swings are decent.
