New TaylorMade Ball

Well it took awhile for Sergio Garcia to switch from the Pro V1x (or was he using the V1? I forget) to the Maxfli BlackMAX, but he finally did at the end of last year or in the off-season... and now I hear he's playing a new prototype ball, and that I've heard we'll hear some big news about that towards the beginning of April or so. Could it be the renewed start of the TaylorMade ball?

Kenny Perry went back to the Pro V1x, and TaylorMade's last ball was the InerGel, I believe:

Interesting, i would like to know how well they hold up with the v1, blackmax and b330. I bet they are pretty similar to the blackmax since taylormade owns maxfli.

Just a hunch, but I'm guessing the BlackMAX goes away and becomes the TaylorMade ball(s). They'll likely have two versions. Maxfli will then become the "value" brand (i.e. Pinnacle versus Titleist, Top-Flite vs. Callaway, etc.).

My reasoning for all of the above: 1) TaylorMade has said they'll have a ball sooner rather than later. This sounds like a good time for one. 2) John Daly signed on with Maxfli, which would be good for the whole "cheaper" brand - Noodles, etc. John isn't really your "$50/dozen" kinda guy. Maybe if women were that cheap... 3) B330s, two Hex Tours, two Pro V1s... that's why I think we'll likely see two different versions of the ball.

I'm playing the Taylormade Black ball at the moment. I only spotted it for the first time last week. Play's pretty good to. Sort of along the lines of the V1X

I heard last week on puregolf XM146 that TM plans on releaseing the balls and ads during the Masters. This was a Executive of TM that was on his program. We'll see as I would be interested in trying a sleeve.

      I hope you don't mind me raising this one from the dead. I got shortgamechef's video access thing for a few months in 2024. I watched his yip fix videos (the general gist is similar to the first video above, but with a lot more detail) and it made a lot of sense. I was working on it in my backyard off a mat for a while and my yippy thing was mostly gone. Aside from anything else, the flop shot using that technique is so easy and controllable. But I got onto a golf course for the first time of the year and found myself by the green on a downslope with the ball sitting down a little in the rough and I was, not to put too fine a point on it, f***ed. Shallow is all well and good from a good flat lie and I understand it, but you can't make that your be all and end all. I still don't know if it's a good idea to use steep all the time or just when you need to. I have a hard enough time with one technique, let alone too.  Just got a pitching skillest lesson with Erik and unless I misunderstood things some, he wants me a bit steeper. @iacas - where do you fall on the steep vs shallow argument and how do you vary it according to need?
