I agree that the V2 is a great shaft, but about the VS Proto, that shaft retails for about $180, I wouldn't call that "affordable," maybe you do?

By the proto you mean the blue one right, because that shaft comes sotck or free on alot of clubs. Titliest, Nike, Adams all put it on there clubs at no extra charge.

Nice, I wish I got a deal like that on my last VS Proto that I put in.

Yes I am, and I realize that, but the OP is buying the shaft and putting it in, and so we are talking about Retail price.

I like the YS-6 and the V2. Neither will break the bank, but my dad has the vs proto on his D2 and that is also a good shaft (much better than the NV), but it is a bit expensive. Look on ebay for pullouts if you want an high end shaft at a cheaper price.

So today I tried out the new and improved r7. With the new shaft (which was cut down to 44 inches) I seemed to have complete control of the ball. I hit my baby fade at will, but surprisingly was even able to work in a controlled draw. It was like a whole new club, very workable, and accurate. I also gained some distance. I poked my first drive out to about 285, which for me is a bomb. Just thought I'd share the experience, thanks for your help guys.

Another guy hitting a 44" V2? Wow!

I'm gonna keeping preaching the virtues of the short shaft and the V2 as well. Good luck and keep it in the fairway! (as I'm sure you will with your new setup)

I had my Mizuno MX 560 reshafted last month with the 65 gm V2 Stiff. At one inch shorter than the stock shaft (45" now... was 46"), I'm just as long, but more consistent than I was with the old shaft. Definitely a good move.

I would ask myself if the money I spend to reshaft is worth the extra $50 -$100 I could spend on the current drivers with the latest technology and forgiveness.

I have an old R5 TP driver that is about 3 years old and I went to the golf store and brought my driver to compare with the 08 and found out that I hit the newer driver about 20 yards farther with more forgiveness.

Drive for show and putt for dough but on par 5 distance does matter and the difference between an eagle putt or chip vs a par putt or chip.

Take a look at the Aldila line, too. They make really good shafts, particularly, the Voodoo and NV series.

I agree. Man, this guy knows everything.
