Does anyone here hit a 1-hybrid (14 degree) instead of a 3-wood, off the tee or otherwise? I generally hit my hybrids a lot better than my woods, especially off the deck, and am thinking of dumping my woods entirely and just going with hybrids. I hit my 2H about 200 yards from the fairway (210-220 when I really catch it good) so I'm thinking maybe 210-220 on average with a 1H. Which is an okay 3–wood distance, and I'm straighter with my hybrids, probably because they're shorter clubs. Thoughts? Does anyone even really use a 1-hybrid?

I have tried a 1 hybrid in the past, but I much prefer a 3 wood (more a 2-wood for me really at 13 degrees). Personally I find hybrids comparatively difficult to hit off the tee which is a major part of my 3-woods role.

I carried a 1H for a couple years instead of a 3W. Off the tee I don't think there is a huge difference, other than hybrid will probably be more consistently accurate, but it will be shorter than a 3W. Where I found I prefered a wood was is off the fairway. A 1H just doesn't have enough loft to consistently hit off fairway or out of rough. While the loft may be similar to that of 3W, the longer shaft makes the 'effective' loft higher. A 3W will fly higher than a 1H and thus make is easier to stop the ball where you want it to stop.

I have a 15deg hybrid in my bag right now that was free (and since I only have 11 clubs I keep it for the occasional punch shot). I have issues hitting it clean from the fairway, I feel the loft is so low that I can't get it in a nice trajectory getting the max distance and a controllable landing. I think dumping the woods wouldn't be a bad idea and I plan to fill in my bag with hybrids in place of long woods/irons too. Maybe try a few different lofts of hybrid clubs I bet you will get the 200-220 range out of an 18deg hybrid when well struck.

i interchange my 3 wood with my 1 hybrid depending on how my driver shots are going. having said that, i am actually a more consistent hitter with the hybrid than i am with the 3 wood. I give up about 10-15 yards of distance, but i'll take that for more accuracy anyday.

I carry a 2H instead of 5W, but I do still carry a 3W. For some reason I never could hit the 5W very well. I can hit the 3W and the 2H, but not the 5W - couldn't tell you why. I don't think I've ever hit a hybrid off the tee, but they are great from the fairway.
