I have been working on my setup and pivot the last few months. I can hit it good sometimes but I want to get more consistent day-to-day. I still need more work. Any suggestions what to concentrate on? I have a down the line video:

I think something is wrong with your link...for everybody else just click the black screen a few times haha. But it works eventually. Your swing looks really good. I can see why your handicap is so low. And when you say more consistent day to day, are you hitting a little fat, a little fade, draw...what do you do that throws you off?

You absolutely know how to hit the ball, and fix your swing. When it comes to consistency, I think, it depends all on the person.

Consistency is about repeating the feel in your swing, etc. They include grip, grip pressure, stance, weight at address, ball position, tempo, etc. They all have to be same everytime for more consistency. Every little thing in golf is counted.

Being said that, don't think when you swing. After the right setup, you can forget everything, just use the same tempo, and trust yourself.

Looks good. The thing that stands out for me is your balance. Very solid.

I agree not to think when you play...but during this swing re-construction period at the range I need to think a bit to make the changes.

I made a swing sequence of images below. The main thing I am having trouble with is that during my downswing pivot, my body tends to get closer to the ball at impact than at address. To compensate, you can also see my lower spine "stands up" and my upper spine "caves down"...the two offset for contact, but it would be better to have a more stable spine.

Any suggestions on ways/drills to correct the motion to eliminate the move into the ball and the spine compensations?

I have a similar problem w/"standing up" during the swing and along with tempo has been near the top of things that I've been working on. I've found this drill ( http://tiny.cc/R5JYB ) to be extremely helpful. I spend maybe 10 minutes a night doing the drill against a wall in my house. When I can actually execute on the course now, the results are noticeable.

What I play:

Thanks you, that Shawn Clement video is a good one I've seen before. I seem to be messing up the first "wipe" part as my R butt leaves the tush line on the backswing. This means I must be too much on my heels at setup or swinging too flat (moving to ball keeps me in balance)?

    • Day 33 (20 Feb 26) - played the Friday men’s group shootout.  Solid day of working from some tough shot results - made for a good number of up and downs for par (8 of the 9 pars were such). Cart mate and I discussed the visual aspect of the game - and how much it plays into the individual’s mindset during the round.  Love when the discussion is focused on learning and taking positives away and not just how bad the miss may be.
    • Day 507 - 2026-02-20 Got some backswing work in on GEARS Hybrid.
    • Still kinda working on the backswing stuff. I can turn < 45°, but I tend to tilt toward the target a little. I can tilt away from the target, but I tend to turn a bit more. Case in point. I can do it, though: This I can do all day (it's more lateral than I want, but it's very linear): Here's what 38° of turn looks like. Almost freaking nothing.
    • Good progress. I am finally feeling like I am settling my weight into my right foot earlier in the backswing. Right hip sinks back, right leg feels staying flexed. Feeling very stable and firm in the right leg. I feel like I could do a good squat with that right leg. Very balanced.
    • oops, forgot Pebble Beach and Spyglass.  And two more of the original Open rota, Prestwick and Musselburgh (with hickory shafted rentals).  And Muirfield.  And maybe a few more, I'll check my list when I get home.
