Not sure if this was ever a thread or not but Im wondering how everyone warms up before teeing it up on the first tee. My home course does not have a driving range, and some of the surrounding courses dont either. Ill stretch for about ten minutes or so, sometimes more depending on how horrible my back feels that day. Ill head to the putting green and putt from about three feet and then work my way back, and hit some chips and bump and runs. Then ill use my swing weight on my 7 iron and swing that for a minute or so and then tee it up. What about you guys? Anyone do some stuff pre-round that really helps them?

i usually arrive to the course and hit a small bucket at the driving range(the course has one). i usually hit some PW's and 8 irons, then a couple 7's and 5's and 3's, then some wood shots or drives and then do some quick putting and chipping before heading for the tee

According to various coaches, Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus. You need to stretch a minimum of 10 minutes so you have consistency in you swing. The type of stretching is static or holding for 30 seconds exact.

For clubs. Take a heavy club or a 7 iron, and take full relaxed swing. At the top of the swing, hold for 10 secs. Do this about 10 times so your downswing is trained. Hit 20 balls with sand wedge, then 5-10 balls with 8/7 iron, 5-10 balls with 5 iron 5-10 balls with 2/3 iron, then driver, 5 balls with woods, then go back to 6 iron, then to lob wedge. Then hit 4 perfect balls with the club you are going to tee off from. Then go to sand/ chipping then finally 10 minutes to with the putter. This should take anywhere from 30to 1 hour. This is what most pros do including the big5. I hope this is resourceful and helpful. Anyother questions, I might be able to help out.

how do i warm up..i usually get a large cup of coffee and walk around the clubhouse looking at merchandise =) . if time permits, i get a small bucket of balls and hit 10-15 balls with my gap wedge, then move up to my PW (10 - 15 balls), then I move up to my 8 iron (favorite club) - i can usually tell if i'm ready or not with this club. i don't stop hitting my 8 iron until i am getting good clean contact and i'm getting the distance i want. after that, i hit about 5-10 balls with my fairway woods, then hit a few with my driver!

I usually stretch for a few minutes, focusing on my arms, back and neck. Next, I'll work on my putting and chipping for a good amount of time. Finally, I'll just take some nice smooth swings with my 5 iron or driver.

    • So far only -5 but... I've Birdied 2 of the 4 holes I wasn't able to last year.  Hopefully will Birdie all 18 this year, maybe an Eagle or 2!
    • Titleist TSR1 or TSi1.  Both have adjustable hosels. edit:  Forgot to mention the GT1.
    • I've been really absent all things golf since September but have been getting the bug lately.  Today in SE Michigan we have our first thaw of the year.  It is Sunny and 53 degrees and boy do I want to get on a golf course!  Spring is around the corner 🙂
    • I assume you are posting 15 or 16 holes and letting the USGA algorithm insert projected scores for the missing holes. How is that going? Are the projected scores reasonable? I have yet to do this.
    • You're right. I haven't really had an issue with this before, but it's definitely worth closing the legs a bit to see what happens. I've had 2 of these and never had this problem before. About 5 years of use between the 2. It's really odd. Yeah, I've always had a bit of inconsistency and misreads, but this is a new level. I did a baseline session last night, and all my of stack speeds had decreased by roughly 5-10 mph (with me throwing out the obvious garbage readings). Weirdly, the driver speed actually seemed to be right where I expected it. I guess maybe it's having trouble with the smaller head of the stack vs. a driver? Whatever it is, I think it's time for me to go with the stack radar.
